Highlander was established in 1985 with the ethos that performance outdoor equipment and clothing need not cost the world. The brand has evolved substantially since then into more than 3,000 products, but still very much with that same ethos of striving to offer that performance vs value balance. We want every free-spirited adventurer to explore their world in their way.
Our brand is being sold across multiple channels, throughout the UK and European Outdoor and Tactical market. Our product range spans across the outdoor equipment categories including clothing, rucksacks, sleeping bags, tents, travel, camping furniture and accessories. In addition to our Outdoor brand, Highlander also stems from Tactical routes with our Highlander Forces brand. This product offer opens up an entirely new and expanding customer base focussed on utility gear, performance motivated and highly versatile product.
Our resilient and diverse approach to business strategy and most importantly culture has led to a high-performance team mentality. As well as continually evolving our Highlander brand, we have been successful in winning prestigious contracts such as Official Licensee to the London 2012 Olympic Games and Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games as well as winning tenders with the Ministry of Defence and the United Nations.
With Scotland being the home, and the best playground for testing product, we proudly continue our original aim of bringing quality outdoor and adventure product at value to our market and evolve our business model to where the consumer experience is at its best.
We’re not a “start-up” nor are we a “corporate” yet we leverage our position to keep that hunger and drive, with the support and professionalism of strong systems and scale.
Having already had a retail operation (LAS OUTDOORS) as part of the Highlander group for over 35 years, we have branched out our retail operation into Ayrshire on this exciting retail extension to the Highlander channel strategy.
- **Job Purpose**_
To establish a strong and professional consumer-facing experience for the brand on the West Coast of Scotland. The retail store will be one that resembles efficiency and high-performance from a commercial perspective, but equally a cultural extension of the Highlander brand to the consumer in Ayrshire. At Highlander, we see ourselves as enablers of the outdoors where we can educate and enable adventures in whatever way the user desires, the store will be an excellent reflection of this.
- **Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities**_
Our Sales Assistants are the key people in our stores; the first point contact with our customers. You’ll be an important part of the store team
