Vehicle Mechanic

Job title: Vehicle Mechanic
Location: Bideford
Hours: Monday - Friday 6.30am-3.30pm

**Salary**: From £12.93 per hour
Duration: Initial 6-month contract

**Responsibilities**:

- Attend to vehicle breakdowns, to diagnose fault and to repair as necessary
- Identify parts required to research competitive price and to order parts required
- Prepare all vehicles ready to undergo MOT (Ministry of Transport) inspection, this can include fitting new parts, welding, steam cleaning, fault repair, minor bodywork repairs
- Record repairs and maintenance to all vehicles on an official form (provided by outside body) and to maintain accurate records to each vehicle for the life of that vehicle
- Keep clean at all times the vehicle workshop area complying with Health and Safety legislation
- To restrict access to unauthorised parties
- To ensure workshop is left secure whilst away from the depot
- Comply with relevant Health and Safety legislation, policies and procedures
- Maintain confidentiality and observe data protection and associated guidelines where appropriate
Role requirements:

- Qualified to Motor Vehicle Level 2, i.e., City & Guilds
- Must have a full UK HGV driving licence
- Completion of 35 hours Drivers CPC Training
- An understanding of Health and Safety issues including Manual Handling
- An understanding of HGV vehicles servicing/MOT preparation
- An understanding of driver's hours and defect reporting/recording
