Aspiring Educational Psychologist

The children in the school range from 5 to 18 and all have a range of additional needs. This may includeASD, ADHD, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, multi-sensory impairments and PMDL. The students therefore require an LSA who is understanding, empathetic and up for a challenge

As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, this will provide a recent university graduate will all the skills needed to undergo training as an Educational Psychologist. You will gain first-hand experience working with children with additional needs in the classroomand learn about the needs of each individual child. This will allow you to learn about the needs of each child and how to implement learning strategies in the classroom in order for them to reach their full potential. You will also be provided with the uniqueopportunity of shadowing the psychologist and therapist based on-site at the school and be able to learn from them ahead of your future career.

In this SEN school, no two days are the same. Your general duties will involve working closely with a small group of SEN pupils in the classroom, supporting both their learning and emotional needs within the class. You will ensure each child stays on trackwith their work and help the class teacher to make the classroom a fun and exciting environment. Personal care may also be required.
