Operator A (Setter)

**Base Salary**:_£28,411_**

**Shift Allowance**:_21% (Working a 3-shift rotation)_**

**Total Package**:_£34, 377.31_**

**Objectives**:

- Manage a cell of injection machines to meet the required Safety, Quality & Delivery targets
- Lead a team of operators and ensure they are following the Maier production & quality systems.
- Achieve production plans and OEE targets
- Lead & support your team in solving issues in real time as they occur in your area
- Raise concerns and recommend actions for any issues that exceed your authority or competence.

**Key Tasks**:

- Ensure all PPE is available and being used within the cell at all times
- Complete TPM level 1 for safety checks on equipment within the cell
- Ensure 5s standards are adhered to within the cell
- Create 1st off moulding for each start up according to process control requirements and start up procedure
- Confirm product quality at required frequency as per control plan requirements
- Complete tool changes requested by the production plan following SQD requirements
- Manage performance of the cell every 2 hours OEE, Performance, Quality, Downtime
- Monitor the use of the Maier quality system within your area (Scrap segregation, standard work, Escalation, etc)
- Participate in problem solving activities to solve customer concerns or rectify internal non-conformances.
- Participate in lean manufacturing improvements (SMED, 5s, TPM)

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Take direction from production group leader and work as part of the Production team.
- Take ownership of your area and it’s SQD and OEE performance
- Address concerns raised by work team members and provide feedback
- Escalate major risks to quality & performance targets
- Respect company systems and procedures
- Maintain a flexible approach to your working hours to support operational needs
- Escalate tooling and machine concerns to group leader, complete any relevant documentation

**Required Competencies**:

- Educated in Maths, English and science to a minimum of GSCE or equivalent level
- Demonstrated hands on experience of tool change overs, first off approval & process start ups
- In depth Technical knowledge of injection tools, injection processes & injection problem solving.
- Knowledge of lean principles - i.e. SMED, 5s, standardised work, levelled production & stop call wait.
- Experience of problem-solving tools - i.e. PPS
- Experience of basic quality systems - i.e. Traceability, first offs, attribute charts etc.

**Required Professional Experience**:

- Experienced in managing and improving production performance of an injection area.
- Experienced in motivating and developing a manufacturing team to perform in a fast-paced environment
- Experienced in communicating actively & effectively to team members.
- Able to demonstrate examples of injection area performance improvements from previous roles

**Other Requirements**:

- Formal Education or knowledge in communication, leadership, team working, problem solving, lean manufacturing or quality assurance would be seen as advantageous
- BPTA, PTL level 2,3 Injection moulding including end test or NVQ equivalent. / IMT 2 or 3.
- Work 3shift pattern, Minimum 16 hours a month weekend overtime required.
