**Job Purpose**
To develop, lead and sustain research and scholarship of international standard and contribute to the delivery of an excellent student experience by delivering teaching, assessment and administration processes associated with the MSc/MEd in Education Studies. For appointment at Grade 8 a substantial contribution will include delivering, organising, and reviewing these processes in line with school strategic objectives.
The MSc/MEd in Education Studies is the largest post-graduate taught programme in Education at the University of Glasgow. The programme is designed to deepen understanding of education and enable graduates to critically analyse education practice, provisions and policy in their own current or future professional context. This broad area of education involves intellectually rigorous study of educational processes, systems and approaches, and the cultural, societal, political and historical contexts within which they are embedded.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**-2. Develop an expert reputation in the field by effective dissemination and publishing of research findings in leading journals and conferences, and where appropriate undertaking knowledge exchange activities.
3. Make a substantial contribution to developing and enhancing the research profile of the School/College. Establishing and leading research collaborations with appropriate individuals and groups within the University, including multi-disciplinary links, and developing external research collaborations both nationally and internationally, to ensure that research activities are at the forefront of the field.
4. Actively contribute to the effective management and administration of the College/School
5. Carry out course administration within required timescales ensuring effective communication of information, in particular assessment requirements and criteria and timely and constructive feedback on assessment.
7. Ensure an inclusive and evidence-based approach to facilitating learning in a range of face to face and potentially online delivery formats such as tutorials, lectures, problem-based learning, that promotes student participation and learning outcome attainment.
7. To supervise project work at undergraduate and Masters levels and take forward the supervision and training of postgraduate research students
8. Develop relationships with external stakeholders in support of knowledge exchange, public understanding, and appropriate forms of outreach such as widening access.
9. Participate in local, and potentially overseas, activities associated with student recruitment (e.g. open days), orientation and induction and other School and University initiatives such as support for student transitions, employability and student mobility as appropriate.
10. Engage in continuing professional development activities as appropriate.
11. Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the Head of School.
12. To contribute to the enhancement of the University’s international profile in line with the University’s Strategic Plan, Inspiring People Changing The World.

**For appointment at Grade 8 i**n addition to the duties and responsibilities outlined above**
13. Take a lead in the on-going development and design of the curriculum in a manner which supports a research-led and scholarly approach to student learning and assessment, making a substantial contribution to the teaching and learning activities within the School.
14. Develop new and effective approaches to the use of learning technologies to support and enhance course delivery, organisation, feedback and assessment.
15. Develop a growing portfolio of research outputs and activities and support early career staff in developing their own portfolio.

**Qualifications**

**Essential**:

A1: Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 12 (PhD, EdD) or equivalent in related discipline

C2: Proven commitment to working collaboratively within a team contributing to the organisation, teaching and assessment large-scale scale courses to learners with diverse learning styles.
C3: Ability to design, review and enhance learning, teaching and assessment programmes as demonstrated by an emergent track record.
C5: Demonstrated commitment to open research, as appropriate to the discipline, through open data, open code, open educational resources and practices that support replication.
C6: Proven commitment to supporting the career development of colleagues and to other forms of collegiality appropriate to the career stage.
