- The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS);
- Association for Project Management (APM);
- Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE);
- CIOB;

- Or similar suitable professional institution

**Introduction**

The Strategic Estates team in Parliament takes great pride in looking after and improving the buildings of Parliament itself, as custodians of the Estate. While we are part of the House of Commons service, we provide services to the House of Lords as well. We operate on a working World Heritage site which attracts visitors from all over the globe, in a challenging stakeholder environment where conservation and the need to innovate and build for the future coincide.

Projects within the team can range massively in size and duration, with huge variation in scope. The nature of each project will vary and it is typical for each Project Leader to be responsible for a range of conservation, construction, mechanical and maintenance projects at any one time.

**The Role**

**Some of the responsibilities include**:

- The programming and planning of each project;
- Writing Business Cases, which are used to gain financial approval;
- Ensuring that the scope of each project is clearly defined and reinforced;
- Identifying Risks and taking appropriate action to mitigate their impact;
This job description may develop in line with business needs and post holders are expected to carry out other reasonable duties as required.

**Skills and Experience**

(Students studying a non-technical degree or ICT project management course may be unsuitable for this position)

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

- Self-motivating with a high level of commitment and enthusiasm, with a willingness to learn proactively
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of how planning, prioritising, organising and problem-solving activities contribute to the success of a project
- Ability to communicate confidently and effectively, both orally and in writing, and adapting communication style to meet the needs of the audience, including explaining technical issues to staff, customers and stakeholders.
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills and commitment to a work environment of mutual trust and respect, where diversity and inclusion is valued.
- Provide evidence and understanding of the principles, behaviours and dynamics of working as part of a team and as a leader.
