Luton, United Kingdom East London NHS Foundation Trust Full time

0.8 FTE Band 8B(an additional 0.2 FTE in CAMHS can be considered)Principal CAMHS Clinician (Clinical or Counselling Psychologist, Systemic Family Psychotherapist, Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist, Clinical Social Worker),2 year fixed term contract, with a Doctoral or equivalent degree and professional registration, based in Luton Youth Partnership Service, part of the ELFT CAMH Emotional and Behavioural Team.

We have a unique and fantastic opportunity for an experienced and motivated practitioner to help lead and shape the highly specialist mental health role in the newly created and aspirational Youth Partnership Service (YPS) in Luton.

The post is a highly valued primary partnership between ELFT CAMH Services and Luton Borough Council. The post holder will be a key member of the Youth Partnership Service, and located substantially with the service, providing specialist mental health clinical expertise by consultation, training, supervision, reflective practice, and supporting other team members in their delivery, other relevant agencies, as well as delivering highly specialist mental health assessment, contextualised formulation and treatment for young people and their families aged 11-17 years.

The post is currently a two year fixed term post, with both strategic partners having the intention and determination to enable its success and secure long-term funding.

The post holder will have close links ELFT CAMH Specialist Services and specifically the CAMH Access Services (CAS), to foster substantial partnership working across the agencies for the benefit of the children, young people and their families, including for those already receiving a CAMH service, or those who are identified as requiring this beyond the remit or capacity of the post holder’s role.

ELFT CAMH Services in Luton have developed a comprehensive stepped model of care for children and families in Luton following the Thrive model, from first step care through embedded clinicians working in partnership with partner agencies, such as schools, provisions, GPs and Early Help, all falling under our CAMHS Access Services. The CAS are co-located with our multi-disciplinary specialist child mental health services, including our crisis service.

We will actively support your professional development, and we will give you ample opportunities to enhance your skills and the interventions you can offer, which will be evidence-based and ‘fit’ the needs of the local population, and will give the opportunity for innovation based on evaluation of effectiveness.

A whole family and contextual safeguarding approach will be employed, and will be achieved by joint working arrangements and close partnership with the range of services available to families including the Early Help offer. The aspirational model of practice is based on a resilience, systems and trauma-informed care approach to family working and compliments the current Strengthening Families and Family Safeguarding Model in Luton Borough Council as well as ELFT CAMH Access Service’s resilience approach to early mental health support and intervention.
