**Residential Worker (Nights Only)**
**Merryfields - High Wycombe**
**£15/hr**

Action for Children are looking to recruit worker to work in a residential children's home for children and young people with disabilities aged 5 to 18.
**Role of job**:
1. Take a lead with case/care planning management for individual children or young people, undertaking assessment of need, developing a care plan and identifying agreed outcomes and carrying out regular review in conjunction with children, young people andtheir families and other professionals.
3. Supervise, guide or direct staff and volunteers where required and provide mentoring to newly appointed staff
4. Support children and young people in their personal care, administration of medication and clinical procedures in line with Action for Children's policy and procedures and regulatory requirements.
5. Build and maintain professional positive working relationships by providing emotional and social support to children and young people who can display challenging emotional and social difficulties.
6. Undertake assessment of children and young people co-ordinating multi agency and family information, analysing and producing reports; attendance at professional meetings including reviews, court work etc.
7. Refer appropriate cases and issues that require the involvement of a specialist, other management support or to directly provide the specialist support.

7. Work with other departments and countries to ensure that Action for Children's values (passionate, ambitious, collaborative and inclusive) are delivered.
8. Be familiar and compliant with health, environmental and safety policies and procedures. In the event of any serious risk, take immediate action to reduce this risk and inform senior management.
**Essential personal requirements**:
**Qualifications**: Must possess level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent to be achieved within 2 years of taking up the post
**Experience and training**:

- Working in a care setting and developing positive relationships through trust.
- Writing clear and concise notes and providing updates to colleagues and senior colleagues.
- Willingness to continue to develop through on the job training or attendance at external or online courses.
- Demonstrating a solution focused approach to address problems and doing this individually and in a team setting

**Skills/knowledge**:

- Ability to utilise a range of techniques to communicate with service users and their families.
- Demonstrable emotional resilience to respond to the challenging nature of the role.
- Demonstrable administrative skills
- Proven ability to organise, plan and deliver on agreed work targets and expectations.

**Other attributes**:

- Work shifts on a 24/7 basis as required by the establishment
- Maintaining registration in line with the required bodies and ensure Action for Children are notified of any circumstances which could affect your registration status
