Newlands Care Home in Dunfermline are looking for a committed and reliable Senior care assistant who works well as part of a team to join the home.

We are a small family run care home caring for 22 residents with various levels of need including dementia and physical frailty.

We are looking for a Senior Carer to work 20 hours a week leading our nightshift team. The hours for our nightshift are 10pm till 8am. This is a rotational post on a two week rota working Wednesday and Thursday one week and Friday and Saturday the alternate week.

There is the opportunity for overtime on dayshift or nightshift to cover holidays and absence.

We are looking for an individual who has night shift and senior experience, this is essential. They must also have completed their SVQ 3 in health and social care or as a minimum have completed their SVQ 2 in health and social care and be willing to commit to completing their SVQ 3.

These shifts are fast paced, we are looking for staff who are physically fit and understand that time management is of the essence. Cleaning and Laundry are a significant part of the night shift role. Please ensure you are able to get in to work and back home again for the required times if using public transport.

All staff receive an Induction, on site Moving and Handling training and Fire training, full training on our digital care planning software and a four to six week training programme were you will shadow an experienced Care Assistant and then an experienced Senior.

During shadowing you will be required to be able to work 4 dayshifts shadowing an experienced care assistant to get to know the residents when they are awake.

**Job Summary - Senior Care Assistant**

To professionally and courtesy lead the care team during any span of duty, ensuring that a safe, effective and efficient care service is maintained and delivered and which meets the needs of the residents.

To provide care to residents in accordance with their assessed needs to a high standard. To administer prescribed medicine to residents as per GP instruction and react accordingly to health changes and liaise with professional bodies. To be able to make an informative decision. To verbally direct and manage the care team and resolve conflict if this arises. To be able to communicate with all staff and residents effectively. To maintain communication with the Management Team.

**Responsibilities**

You will be responsible for administering medication to 22 residents. Experience of dealing with and managing emergency situations is essential and you must have previous experience managing a small team of care staff. We are looking for someone who had an excellent work ethic and is prepared to lead by example and understands that team work and communication is the key.

**Skills & Experience preferred**:

- Experience of leading a small team (3-4 staff).
- Good people management skills
- Good communication skills both written and verbal.
- Ability to plan, allocate and delegate work appropriately.
- Will take responsibility for issues and resolve them.
- Able to cope in difficult situations with tact and diplomacy.

**Qualifications**
- Previous experience of working Nightshift is essential.
- Medicine administration experience is essential.
