We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, energetic and highly motivated School Secretary to join our administrative team. We are looking for someone with excellent written and oral English, strong secretarial and IT skills, including Microsoft Office suite. Experience of working in a school environment and using MIS systems (in particular Bromcom) is desirable but not essential. St Keyna is a busy, lively school with an increasing roll.

**About the role**

You will be required to provide a confidential personal, secretarial, organisational and administrative support to the Headteacher, Deputy Head, School Business Manager and other school staff and Governors including ensuring attendance registers and staff absences records are kept up-to-date and absent pupils are accounted for and information required for emergency procedures are in place daily. You will be responsible for monitoring pupil absences and liaising with the Headteacher and LA’s Attendance Officer. You will provide the typing of letters, producing reports and other documents, maintaining the school’s records and filing systems, making appointments, maintaining the school diary and assisting in the organisation of the school office to ensure that routine day to day clerical functions are undertaken efficiently and effectively and assist with arranging cover for staff absence, preparing paperwork for meetings, organising refreshments and taking minutes as required.

This role will also be required to undertake other miscellaneous duties such as ordering of materials and resources, receiving and checking deliveries, liaising with outside contractors/supplies and agencies, updating the school’s system for lunchtime menus and school meals and liaising with the Catering Team in the smooth operation of our lunchtime provision. You will also be required to arrange school trips, transport, and prepare and assist in parents’ evenings, lettings and clubs and generally ensuring the smooth administration of the school within the school community and outside world. You will assist in the process of recruitment for teaching and support staff and other HR requirements

You will also be required to produce statutory returns and reports when required for the DfE and LA.

You will be required to promote and safeguard the welfare of pupils and comply with the School’s safeguarding and child protection policy and ensure that any concerns relating to the safety or welfare of children are reported immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).

**About you**

We are looking for someone who is / has:

- Experience in working in an office environment preferably in a school setting.
- Highly organised, able to prioritise, good attention to detail.
- Self-motivated, tenacious and flexible.
- Good at working under pressure and still smiling
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Competent with IT systems including Microsoft Office suite, MIS systems (in particular Bromcom) and social media.
- Desirable minimum 5 GCSE passes at Grade C or above or equivalent including English Language and Maths.

**This role is 35.5 Hours per week - Mondays to Thursdays 08:15 - 16:00 and Fridays 08:15 - 16:30 including unpaid 30 minutes lunchbreak. (4 days per week will also be considered). Term-time only, including 2 INSET days.**

**Interviews will be held on Wednesday 7**th** February.**

**Start Date: 15**th** April 2024 (preferably with at least 2 weeks training to be completed before the end of March 2024).**
