The appointee will be based within the CODU and Medical Oncology department, in close collaboration with the Lung Cancer team and under the supervision of a consultant clinician. The medical establishment provides The Christie Department of Medical Oncology (Clinical Director, Dr Yvonne Summers) was founded in 1974 and is one of the largest Departments of Cancer Medicine in the UK. The major research remit of the Department is to develop improved methods for cancer patient management. Laboratory research is closely integrated with clinical research and service work.

Digital Services is responsible for delivering all aspects of digital and technical functions across the Trust ranging from infrastructure and software engineering to information governance and analytics, including the in-house creation of our unique patient EPR platform. A new Digital strategy for 2023-2028 focusses on delivering benefits through digitally enabled clinical services, and outlines how we will move to this digitally enabled future and maximise the opportunities digital technologies bring. Our new Clinical Outcomes & Data Unit (CODU) was launched in 2023 under the direction of the Director of Clinical Outcomes. The Unit is a multidisciplinary collaborate and is the key vehicle todeliver our new Clinical Outcomes and Data Strategy focusing on the use of data for the purposes of standard practice and research.

Our Unit includes a breadth of roles including quality improvement and audit specialists, information governance experts, analysts, statisticians and as a Unit we recognise the importance of engagement, leadership, innovation, and partnership with patients and other key stakeholders nationally and regionally (e.g. University of Manchester, Manchester Cancer Research Centre, Health Innovation Manchester, Greater Manchester Cancer Alliance, etc.).
