**Personal Mentor**

Here at Quays Housing, we are looking for an individual who is passionate about supporting clients who have experienced homelessness. If you enjoy helping others, want to create a safe place to for clients to live and help them gain the skills to live independently, we have a new and exciting opportunity. We are looking for a full-time Personal Mentor to work in our low support accommodations here at Quays Housing.

**Job Summary**

The personal mentor role will be based within two supported housing projects in Brighton and Hove. The role will be working with people who were previously rough sleeping. The post holder will support a case load of residents to become more independent and gain life skills to be able to move on to independent living in the future. You will work within a small and supportive team.

**Experience**
- Experience of providing emotional and practical support to residents who have low support needs
- Experience of supporting a caseload of clients
- Experience of working with people who have experienced homelessness, struggle with substance and alcohol use and their mental health
- Ability to provide creative, structured, person centred and co-produced support plans
- Ability to build trust and understanding with residents
- Ability to work with a strength-based approach to motivate and empower people
- Good administrative skills including word, outlook, excel and databases
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritise and manage workload
- Ability to meet deadlines and targets
- Work as a supportive and effective team member

**Duties and responsibilities**
- Keeping full and accurate casework records
- Updating BTHINK including support plans and risk assessments
- Supporting residents to gain life skills including cooking, maintaining their living space, budgeting, volunteering, work and learning
- Ensuring residents are supported to maintain their tenancy
- Helping to induct new residents who move into the project
- Ensuring the project is clean and welcoming
- Liaising with external agencies regarding support and attending appointments with residents if required
- Supporting residents to budget, pay service charge, collecting cash and recording accurately
- Participating in staff meetings
- Actively participating in supervision and undertaking appropriate training
- Commitment of meeting the needs of vulnerable people
- Maintain positive relationships with staff, residents, and external agencies

- Passion for working with clients who have been homeless
- Good administrative skills including word, outlook, excel and databases
- A warm and friendly disposition
- Good communication skills
- A strong team player
- Punctual and reliable

Full Induction into the role and ongoing training will be provided to all new members of our team.
