Oxford, United Kingdom University of Oxford Full time

We are looking to appoint a Senior Researcher in Sustainable Flourishing to work as part of the Flourishing Theme of the Oxford Health Biomedical Research Centre (OH BRC).

This is a part time position (60-80% FTE) and is fixed term until 31 December 2026.

The Flourishing Theme will investigate how non-clinical environments might be utilised to enhance public health and mental health The initial focus is on developing nature-based approaches to mental health and wellbeing through a living laboratories infrastructure that includes Oxford’s gardens, arboretum and woods.

The theme is led by Professors Ilina Singh and Willem Kuyken, and comprises three main work packages (WP):

- WP1: Flourishing Mechanisms: Innovations in Discovery Science.
- WP2: Living Laboratories: Promoting Accessible and Inclusive Real-World Research:

- WP3: Innovations to promote ethical flourishing beyond the clinic.

This is a key senior role working in partnership with the PIs and other team members across all three work packages, and focused on developing and executing a strategy of communities’ outreach, and co-design and other participatory research approaches to inform and help to deliver scientific, infrastructural and public health goals across the WPs.

Based within University Department of Psychiatry, you will report to Professor Ilina Singh and Professor Willem Kuyken and you will be a recognised authority in your field.

You will develop and have oversight of the strategic approach for communities’ research, engagement, involvement and participation as well as research initiatives for further funding, in line with overall programmatic goals. You will be a team leader, setting clear task objectives, developing productive working relations and line-managing other members of the team, including induction, appraisal, and mentoring.

You will hold a relevant PhD with significant post-qualification research experience and possess sufficient specialist knowledge to develop a strategy for relevant research projects and methodologies around the concept of flourishing and the lived experiences of individuals and communities. An established (inter)national reputation and a record of dissemination that includes both traditional academic outlets such as high-quality publications and alternative, impactful output types and mechanisms is essential, as is proven experience and track record in PPIE (public/patient participation, involvement and engagement) and/or community engagement, demonstrating broad and sustainable societal impact.

The closing date for this post is 12.00 midday on 30 August 2023.
