This post will be based with North Gwynedd Community Learning Disability Team. Our Learning Disability Service is a very friendly and supportive atmosphere within which to work, and it is a service that highly values Clinical Psychology. You will be a core member of the Team and be expected to work both directly and indirectly with our clients, and provide consultation and support to your Team colleagues. Given this we are looking for expert Clinical Psychologists who are capable of delivering a service with the necessary flexibility and adaptation as is required when working with people with Learning Disability. There is also an expectation that Clinical Psychologists will provide a service to those individuals who present with complex difficulties, and this will require the delivery high quality, effective input via others (e.g., supervising colleagues, working with systems).
The nature of Learning Disability Services means that applicants need to be organised, flexible, and capable of forming effective working/therapeutic relationships with both clients and colleagues. Given your skill base as a Clinical Psychologist your colleagues will be proactive in asking for your advice, supervision etc, and value greatly high quality input. You will also be expected to play a key role in maintaining Team health, by facilitating discussion/formulation of Team activity with regard to client work, and beyond. This may extend to providing some brief Psychological support to colleagues. The nature of Learning Disability work means that you will deliver on all of the varied roles provided by Clinical Psychologists - this is something that is highly valued by our Learning Disability Service colleagues and management structures. We have very close links with the North Wales Clinical Psychology Programme (NWCPP) - see below.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
