Housekeeping Assistant

**How you'll make a difference**:
Vinney Green Secure Children’s Home offers young people a safe, caring environment, where they will experience quality care, education, vocational and life skills training. You will undertake domestic tasks ensuring that a high standard of cleanliness is maintained throughout the Home to help keep residents safe, clean and supported.

**What will you be doing?**
- You will be cleaning all areas of the home, maintaining a socially clean environment whilst enhancing the general appearance.
- You’ll assist in servicing all furnished areas, dining room, corridors, lounge, classrooms and offices ensuring a high standard of cleanliness while observing all Health and Safety policies and legislation.
- In this role you will ensure that all vacant bedrooms are cleaned and replenished ready for occupation.
- You will provide a laundry service to the young people and resident care staff involving the replenishment and laundering of bed linen and towels.
- You’ll be responsible for replenishing stocks held in the Control Rooms of personal hygiene products for use by the young people and advising the Facilities Officer of stock levels.

**What we need from you**:

- You must have experience in general domestic duties.
- You’ll need to be aware of the Health and Safety aspects of the role - including moving and handling.
- You can demonstrate the ability to work as a member of a team and have effective communication skills.
- Ideally, you’ll have experience of working with people from other minority ethnic groups.
- You will have knowledge of Food Hygiene, House Keeping, Basic Health and Safety Practices and COSHH.

Please note that due to the nature of this role it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained for this post.

**Things we need you to know**:
Salary is plus Secure Unit allowance of £2,583 per annum, pro-rated to hours worked and enhancements for Sunday and Bank Holiday working.

Your designated shift pattern will be Monday to Friday, 9am to 3pm.

Young people can present physically threatening behaviour and the environment can become tense and anxiety provoking, so for everybody’s safety surveillance cameras are in use in most areas of the building.

Vinney Green operates a full non-smoking environment, and there is no provision to facilitate smoking anywhere on site. Staff’s personal belongings are required to be left in a provided locker on entry into the building and we may require you to undertake a further physical fitness check.

This role is demanding and there will be some physical active aspects to the job, but we can assure you that this will be one of the most rewarding jobs that you will ever do
