**Job description**:
Detention Services (DS) is part of Immigration Enforcement (IE) and supports compliance across the immigration system through the detention and removal of individuals who no longer have the right to remain in the United Kingdom. Detention Services offers some of the most varied and fascinating opportunities for project delivery professionals due to the scale of outsourced contracts necessary to deliver the infrastructure needed to support the department’s mission.

The post holder will work alongside other members of the Detention Services Portfolio. We are looking for an experienced, dynamic, and innovative PPM professional able to work in a high profile, fast moving and rapidly changing area of delivery which will continue to attract significant interest from Ministers, wider Government, the media, and the public.

The role of the Project Support Officer covers a diverse range of activities to support the delivery of the project’s objectives. The Project Support Officer enables the smooth running of the project by supporting the project manager through the operation of project management processes, and the co-ordination of business management actions and activities on their behalf. Key to this exciting role is maintaining effective communication, maximising on engagement opportunities, implementing structured planning, and ensuring that project reporting resources are in place. The post holder will be part of a forward-thinking team to deliver an ambitious portfolio or programmes and projects within challenging timescales.

This post can be based in the IE Offices advertised. Overnight travel to other IE locations in UK may be required.

**Person specification**:
Key responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

- Planning and Scheduling- Implementing and maintaining appropriate systems to enable effective planning and scheduling
- Project Governance- Assisting the Project Manager with secretariat duties for key project boards and adhoc meetings including scheduling and preparing for meetings
- Preparing meeting documentation such as reports and presentations as well as recording minutes to ensure further actions required are communicated and actioned
- Monitoring and Reporting- Establishing and maintaining project controls, keeping the project manager aware of the project status
- Preparing project performance reports, presenting statistics and researching new information
- Admin- Ensuring organisational tasks are carried out efficiently
- Managing and monitoring compliance of the project with Departmental Security, Health & Safety, Equality & Diversity, Business Continuity and Business Planning
- Resource- Working with the resourcing manager, be responsible for identifying, developing and deploying resources
- Managing workforce planning, providing information for effective decision making to the Project Manager
- Procurement of supplies and services related to project support within Delegated Financial Authority limits
- Stakeholders- Managing professional relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, and act as lead point of contact for some external parties
- Drafting and signing-off correspondence
- Finance Control- Monitoring project spend and contributing to the compilation of budgets and the development of the business case
- Ensuring an accurate asset register is maintained
- Risk and Issues- Managing potential risk areas, working with risk managers and escalating as appropriate

**Essential Criteria**
- Experience in programme/project management and associated methodologies.
- Knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring, and controlling programmes/projects, including risk management, planning and benefits management.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to form well thought out conclusions and recommendations.
- Analytical thinking and the ability to interpret data.
- Ability to work on several different activities and to work flexibly across these, offering support, as the need arises.
