Night Porter

Victoria Square Hotel is a 41-bedroom independent hotel and our vision of hospitality with home-away-from-home feel drives us to provide an exceptional customer experience for each and every guest we welcome, whether to join us for a drink or to stay with us and enjoy the most sought-after area of Bristol, Clifton Village.

As we build our team, we are looking at this point to recruit our Night Porter. As passionate as we are about our service, our Night Porter will often be the person who will make the first impression with our guests.

This is a minimum 30 hours a week role that involves working from 11pm to 7am, 4 consecutive days followed by 4 days of break to include weekends on a rota basis.

**What we are looking for**:
1.The Night Porter, as the face of Victoria Square Hotel, will be warm, friendly and professional; able to welcome guests with a genuine smile while conducting efficient check-in and -out in line with brand standards.

2.Previous experience of working as a Night Porter will be an advantage.

3.Our Night Porter will be excellent at building rapport, able to anticipate guests’ needs often before they do, with a thorough knowledge of Victoria Square Hotel products and services that will leave our guests reassured and impressed.

4.You must have an ability to remain calm under pressure, take challenges in your stride and take appropriate action in the event of an emergency as you will be responsible for the site fire and emergency procedures during the night.

5.Although ensuring safety and security is a main priority of this role, you must also be an all-rounder helping to fulfil different roles whilst on shift, for example setting up breakfast rooms for the next day, completing night audit processes, or covering night-time room service and service on the bar.

6.Service driven as well as self-motivated, you will demonstrate an ability to work on your own initiative understanding the consequences of everything you do.

7.Our Night Porter will enjoy being kept busy - you will conduct regular floor walks around the hotel and monitor the closed circuit TV.

8.Support of your colleagues in the day will see you often help the chefs prepare for a busy breakfast service.

9.Our Night Porter will be able to provide a clear and concise handover at the end of shift, highlighting any incidents that occurred or need follow up action.

The Night Porter will be recognised as playing a crucial role in the ongoing success of Victoria Square Hotel.
- Previous experience, ideally in a hotel or hospitality background.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and be IT literate.
- A real passion for providing excellent customer services is a must.
- A great telephone manner.
- Knowledge of a guest booking system is a benefit although training will be provided.

**Salary**: £10.42-£12.00 per hour
