Hours : 37.5 hours per week

**Salary**: : £20,319 per annum

We currently have two vacancies for a full time Collection & Delivery Driver, primarily based at our brand new Bishop Auckland shop opening soon but flexibly covering all shops in our catchment area.

THE ROLE OF OUR COLLECTION AND DELIVERY DRIVERS

Our drivers are pivotal to the success of the business and provide an effective, efficient and courteous collection and delivery of goods.

Physically demanding, our drivers have high standards and are often the public face of Butterwick Hospice to our donors and supporters, so the ability to communicate clearly and promoting Butterwick Hospice in the wider community is a vital skill.

Our drivers also need to relate to our retail staff and volunteers, assisting the Shop Manager to control a smart and efficient backroom area and to test donated electrical items for safety when not out on the road.

The purpose of this post is to ensure the effective, efficient and courteous collection and delivery of goods to our new large shop in Bishop Auckland, to assist the Shop Manager in the cascading on unsold stock to other shops to maximise the income and to work in the non-sales are of the shop testing donated electrical items for safety.

Key Responsibilities

In liaison with the Shop Manager, to ensure prompt and courteous collection and delivery of donated goods and the delivery of stock to all Retail Shops, by the agreement of a work-plan on a regular basis.

To ensure collections and deliveries to the Retail Shops are completed promptly.

To assist the Shop Manager to control a smart and efficient backroom area and to test donated electrical items for safety.

To take responsibility for the day to day running of Hospice Retail vehicles ensuring vehicles problems, regular maintenance, and renewal of M.O.T certificates and insurance discs are brought to the attention of the Shop Manager. Any accidental damage, traffic offences or points added to the postholder’s Driving Licence must be advised immediately to the Retail Support & Development Manager via the Shop Manager.

To be an ambassador for the Hospice by promoting and encouraging support for the work of Butterwick Hospice. Maintaining courteous relationships with donors and customers and to answer the telephone in a competent manner and have a sympathetic attitude towards bereaved families.

To comply with Environmental Health and Fire Regulations within all Retail Shops.

Responsibilities of All Staff

To be aware of all Hospice and Retail policies and procedures relevant to the role, both existing and as they are reviewed. To carry out duties and responsibilities in compliance with Hospice and Retail policies and procedures, current legislation and codes of conduct as applicable with an awareness of personal limitations.

To be aware of the working practices of any volunteers assisting with the daily workload, feeding back any concerns to the Voluntary Services Manager so that the welfare of the volunteer is protected at all times.

To undertake the requirements of the role with an awareness of responsibilities under Health & Safety regulations.

To maintain good public relations and promote the Hospice philosophy of care in the wider community.

To provide support in the form of training/mentoring to other team members as appropriate.

To identify Training and Development opportunities, in conjunction with your manager and to take responsibility for ensuring mandatory training updates are completed within timescales. To participate in personal training as may be necessary to meet the duties and responsibilities of the post.

To undertake such other duties and responsibilities commensurate with the importance and nature of the post.
