Hairdressing Apprenticeship

**Job description**

We are a welcoming and highly professional hair salon, and we are looking for a Hairdressing Apprentice to join our team.

You will learn all aspects of hairdressing from:

- Basic cuts
- Shampooing
- Reception duties
- Cleaning
- Mixing colours
- Greeting clients

Learning hairdressing as an Apprentice will also give you valuable knowledge of how a salon runs day-to-day.

**Working week**
- You will be working in the salon 4 days, including some weekends, days and shifts TBC

**Expected duration**:2 years

**Training to be provided**

Intermediate apprenticeship in Hairdressing, which includes:

- Level 2 NVQ in Hairdressing
- Functional skills in English and maths (if Grade 4/C not already achieved)
- Employee Rights and Responsibilities (ERR)
- Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS)

There will be a mix of theory and practical lessons and you will be assessed in the salon.

As a Level 2 Apprentice, you will be learning the basics of hairdressing and of working within a salon.

The units you cover may include:

- Style and finish hair
- Set and dress hair
- Cut hair using basic techniques
- Colour and lighten hair
- Advise and consult with clients
- Shampoo, condition, and treat the hair and scalp
- Develop and maintain your effectiveness at work
- Relax hair
- Perm and neutralise hair
- Plait and twist hair
- Temporarily attach hair to enhance a style
- Remove hair extensions
- Fulfil salon reception duties
- Cut men's hair using basic techniques
