**Role**: Lifespace Youth Worker - ARRS

**Reports To**:Youth Programme Manager

**Salary**:£23,949 pro rata (£14,369 actual)

**Duration**:1 year fixed term contract

**Hours**: 0.6 FTE (22.5 hours)

**MAIN PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE ROLE**
- To mentor young people aged 5 - 19 years on a one-to-one basis, within Rugby PCN (which includes 12 GP Surgeries) from one GP Surgery, online or in community buildings, using a variety of methods to engage young people to help improve their wellbeing.
- Support will be in the form of:

- Phone calls
- 1-3 one to one contact.
- Social Prescribing - directing the young person to existing services in the local area
- If a higher emotional need is identified to Step Up young person to their ARRS team lead
- To provide drop ins and surgeries (for fun social activities) to help connect young people with other local organizations to access support.
- To provide timely and relevant feedback to RISE, within the bounds of mentor confidentiality.
- To liaise with the Youth Program Manager on mentoring data and outcomes.

**DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- To be available at GP Surgeries for an agreed number of hours each week, 3 days per week to work with young people on a one-to-one basis.
- To highlight availability for extra hours during term-time and school holidays/afterschool as opportunities
- To attend one to one supervision once every three weeks.
- To attend development training three times per year.
- To work with the Youth Programme Manager to respond to mentoring requests so that we can start mentoring a child/young person within two weeks of referral or as agreed with Rise.
- To update Deputy (the software we use to log mentoring and time sheets) with relevant information about your hours and work with individual children and young people.
- To keep notes in accordance with Lifespace protocol and GDPR regulations.
- To research and refer to existing services for CYP within the local area.
- To collect information which enables us to assess the impact of our mentoring for each child or young person that we have worked with.

**GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES**
- To work collaboratively with the Youth Programme Manager, Designated Safeguarding Lead and mentoring team to deliver an effective mentoring service.
- To uphold the Lifespace values: Inclusive, Youth-led, Trustworthy, Ambitious, Approachable, Collaborative
- To support service delivery that ensures the safeguarding of young people at all times.

**Person Specification and Method of Assessment (MoA)**

**SKILLS AND ABILITIES**

**Essential**

Ability to provide supportive listening for children and young people

Ability to provide mentoring support within the “Matrix of Presenting Issues” and signpost accordingly.

Ability to recognise safeguarding issues in line with Lifespace Safeguarding Policy and act accordingly.

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to individuals and groups.

Familiar with Office 365 and comfortable with arranging and holding meetings online.

**EXPERIENCE**

**Essential**

Experience of working with young people, specifically 5-18 years old.

Experience of mental health and emotional development of young people.

**Desirable**

Experience of working with young people with additional needs.

Experience of supporting young people using a variety of channels eg video, text and phone.

Experience of delivering workshops/other group activities for young people.

Experience of liaising of working with schools/other agencies to achieve a positive outcome.

**KNOWLEDGE**

**Desirable**

Knowledge of mentoring and coaching models.

Have attended Lifespace mentor training or hold a relevant qualification.

**Additional Information**
- You will be paid monthly
- You will be entitled to holiday pay on a pro-rata basis based on your hours.
- You must be able to drive and have access to a car.
- Most hours will be worked between 9-5 Monday to Wednesday
- Travel from base and other reasonable expenses will be paid.
- An Enhanced DBS check is a requirement of the role.
