Strategic Leadership and Development Develop a shared understanding of, and commitment to, the vision and strategic aims of the AHP services within the Group, working with the Trust Board, staff and associated external bodies In collaboration with the Group Chief Nurse/Group Chief Medical Officer, be responsible for the development and delivery of the strategic plan for AHP services across the Group Lead on the non-medical education commissioning and monitoring for AHPs Responsible for ensuring that AHP training and placements provided to students are of a high standard and clinical placements are appropriate Ensure visibility of the role in clinical areas through patient safety walk rounds and engagement with frontline staff Be clinically credible and maintain professional registration. Participate in site Back to the floor programmes in order to improve engagement with front line staff In collaboration with the Group executives, shape the development for the AHP services across the Group, working closely with Therapy Professional Leads and Hospital Heads of Therapies, Clinical Leads and nursing colleagues Contribute to the development of a positive public image of AHP services through clear communication of the objectives, successes and constraints Ensure that AHP services are planned, developed and monitored in line with current and projected priorities, strategic direction and commissioning priorities Play a key role in the determination and implementation of AHP services working in partnership with external stakeholders and networks and commissioners Respond to national and local initiatives, innovations and policy developments within a robust monitored governance framework Contribute to corporate policy development and promote policy decisions both internally and externally Influence local, regional and national policy and guidance and apply it as appropriate Undertake strategic service planning and ensure that the contribution, as appropriate, of AHP services is included in all new business Drive the AHPs strategic development and innovation/service transformation in line with best practice, seeking collaborating with stakeholders and external agencies and always within a multidisciplinary context Professionally lead clinicians and managers to ensure a Group approach to the planning and staffing of services, ensuring excellent standards of care for all patients in both specialist and general areas Contribute to the implementation of the NHS 10-year plan, and lead on implementation of relevant National Service Frameworks, NICE guidance, AHPs into action, Patients Charter Standards and other relevant national and local policies for AHP services Co-design and co-develop services with service users to improve patient experience and outcomes Creatively work with multi-disciplinary colleagues in developing a retention strategy that addresses the key issues of turnover and staff satisfaction at work Lead on AHP workforce strategy to determine the correct level of staffing to meet patient safety and quality requirements, activity levels and innovative service delivery. Working with senior multidisciplinary clinical leaders to ensure the best multidisciplinary workforce model Professional leadership and practice standards The postholder must, at all times, work in accordance with the HCPC code of professional conduct and ensure that all registered AHP practitioners work within their professional code of conduct Provide professional leadership to AHPs, managers and multidisciplinary team members across the Group, ensuring that there is a sharing of good practice across the Group Advise the Group Chief Nurse on all matters relating to safe delivery of care for AHPs Encourage a philosophy of continuous professional development amongst colleagues, leading by example Work in collaboration and partnership with all health care professionals, continually promoting inter-professional working Demonstrate strong clinical leadership providing senior advice and problem solving with a creative approach Provide leadership to the AHP professions across the Group, providing advice and guidance, facilitating engagement and developing the overall strategic direction Develop a culture that encourages the use of initiative, individual and team responsibility and open communication Support and inspire staff towards continuous quality improvement and the delivery of patient focussed care engaging with quality improvement methodology Be responsible for ensuring that AHPs have a single point of visibility and accountable professional leadership across the Group Lead on governance of cross-site AHP policies, standards, learning and SOPs Lead on annual safer staffing review for AHPs groups Provide advice and act as a conduit for AHP views to Executive Committees to ensure that strategic and policy decisions are well informed by AHP staff at all levels Provide expert advice to Executive Directors on all matters affecting AHPs and ensure
