**About the Role**:
Being an Electrical Maintenance Apprentice is an exciting role based at Grain LNG (Liquified Natural Gas) where you will be part of the Electrical Maintenance team at Grain LNG Importation Terminal, working alongside and supporting other departments teams who are responsible for maintaining the safe and reliable operation of Grain LNG’s assets through the effective completion of planned and corrective maintenance for the LNG Terminal.

During this 48-month programme, you will be based at the LNG Terminal on the Isle of Grain in Kent, and training is provided on a full-time basis in the first academic year by a local independent college and thereafter, on a day release timetable.

You’ll have the opportunity to achieve a Level 3 NVQ Extended Diploma in Electrical Engineering Maintenance along with an Advanced Level Apprenticeship in Engineering Manufacture (Engineering Maintenance). There will be scope to progress your further education during your 4-year Apprenticeship to HNC or HND level.

Your key accountabilities include:

- Learn to undertake a range of duties and tasks on high & low voltage switchgear, transformers, motors, cryogenic plant, and equipment.
- Understand about Process Safety, working under a permit and ISSOW, maintain site maintenance and operational records of work activities.
- Support the commissioning of new assets within the terminal while developing an understanding of how to identify the requirement to replace or upgrade existing plant and equipment within your technical area
- Develop an understanding and learn about plans for Emergency, security, safety operational and environmental processes, and procedures.

As one of our Advanced Apprentices, we’ll help you develop your skills through a combination of practical work and academic study, all the while providing you with the passion, skills and knowledge you need to power all our futures.

At every stage of this exciting role, you'll enjoy hands on support and the chance to develop your skills and learn brand new ones too. You don’t need prior work experience; the determination and will to succeed is far more important as we will teach you everything you need to know. The role will provide you with a variety of skills including transferrable skills to support your career development within National Grid.

**You must have or be predicted to gain Five GCSE’s graded A-C / 4-9 or equivalent, three of which must be Maths, Science and English Language along with two others, or an Engineering Diploma/Qualification i.e., BTEC (grade pass) along with GCSE Maths and English Language graded A-C /4-9 or equivalent.**

**You’ll have a full, valid driver’s licence 12 months after joining the programme or from your 17th birthday.**
