**About the role**:
The NIHR Biomedical Research Centre at the University of Leicester is looking for a Research Assistant to join the Department of Respiratory Sciences. The Department is** **research-led and engages in internationally-recognised research. With strong links with the NHS, the department brings together basic and clinical scientists with strengths in microbial sciences, respiratory sciences and immunology. The department is part of the College of Life Sciences. Located on campus, and within the Robert Kilpatrick Clinical Sciences Building and University Hospitals of Leicester.
The Research Assistant will support the initiation, organisation and management of the Tocilizumab in **P**ost-**Hosp**ital **I**nflammatory Long Covid (PHOSP-I) trial and other studies, working under the direction of the Project Manager and the Chief/Principal Investigator.
You will be expected to work proactively as part of a wider team working closely with NHS clinical and academic staff to support research visits, to ensure the highest standards of research governance, and to deliver the trial on time and to budget.
**About you**:
You will have a degree or equivalent in Sports and Exercise Science with experience of undertaking and interpreting physical function tests and measurements. You will have experience of working with patients, as well as trial management knowledge to maintain the smooth and effective running of the clinical trials and research studies in accordance with the study protocols, ethics and regulatory approvals, standard operating procedures (SOPs), the principles of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), applicable EU Directives and UK legislation.
