POSITION: WAREHOUSE OPERATIVE/FORK-LIFT DRIVER
MEMBER OF STAFF:
a. The position reports directly to the Warehouse Manager of Sign Plus Limited Dalgety Bay.
b. This position works and communicates closely with the Production Management team.
c. This position has responsibility for the Warehouse trainee and the individual in the Packing/Checking area (although this individual may be required from time to time, to undertake manufacturing duties following request and consultation with the Warehouse Supervisor)
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under the supervision of the Warehouse Manager, this team member is expected to train and progress in such a manner as to be able to control and manage all operations necessary within the Warehousing section of Signplus Ltd.
This includes the booking goods in, goods out (courier service), plus the maintenance and accountability for all stock items within the stock system, including stocktaking. Of particular responsibility is the control and co-ordination of all stocks and contract item replenishment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
1. Good writing and mathematical ability.
2. Good verbal and written communication skills.
3. Formal qualifications - there are no formal qualifications required for this position
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This is a representative list of the general duties the role may be asked to perform and is not intended to be all-inclusive.
1. To ensure the fitting schedule and Clarity are scrutinised on a daily basis, and that all materials and services are ordered in a timely manner
2. To ensure the warehouse area, stock rooms, basement areas, link corridor, vehicle bay and checking areas are maintained to a high level of housekeeping.
3. To ensure weekly stock check is undertaken by close of play each week (ie by Friday at 1700hrs). This check covers all targeted consumable items within the warehouse, workshop and the print/design facility.
4. To ensure all appropriate health and safety checks are undertaken weekly - this includes, although is not restricted to, checking of the fire alarm system, ladder checks, emergency stop checks on all heavy duty bench equipment and harness checks.
5. To ensure all meter readings for services are taken and maintained on a weekly basis - gas, electricity and water.
6. To maintain the security and integrity of the warehousing area, and access to the waste skip.
7. To ensure all goods in are correctly labelled, identifying the job to which they are allocated.
8. To ensure all goods are stored in the correct storage locations, and that all locations are correctly identified within the system.
9. To ensure all goods loaded into bays for use within the factory, are correctly identified, and the bay boards are maintained with up to date accurate information.
10. To ensure proper care and use of the equipment within all designated work areas within Signplus, specifically that equipment which is housed and used within the Warehouse, or for the movement of goods.
11. Develop existing knowledge of available materials, methods, and resource to ensure most cost-effective execution of all tasks.
12. To maintain an accurate training record of activities undertaken
13. To ensure that the company dress code is adhered to at all times when representing the Company both on and off site.
14. To execute all other duties as determined from time to time by Management
15. Look to develop the position further through involvement in developing of clear and concise work instructions.
Responsibility towards Quality of product:
1. Ensure all materials are checked on arrival, and discrepancies or damage noted, recorded in the appropriate log, product quarantined, and supplier contacted ready for return. In the instance of a courier failure, the Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for raising the necessary complaint paperwork and chasing progress with the supplier.
2. Ensure the quarantine area is clear of all materials bar those which have been quarantined.
3. When packing goods, ensure packing spec and labelling are as appropriate to the customer, and comply with Sign Plus standards.

5. To report any discrepancies with finished product to the Warehouse Manager

ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED TO PERFORM THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
1. Ability to study on a part-time basis, working towards SVQ level 2 and 3 in Warehousing.
2. Ability to train and enhance skills, particularly within the Health and Safety sector of the role.
3. Must have a mature outlook, and be capable of working on their own intiative.
4. Physical stamina sufficient to stand for extended periods during the working day.
5. Ability, on a consistent basis, to communicate effectively with colleagues, all team members, internal customers, and when required, suppliers.
