BEIS and Ofgem have confirmed that they are committed to proceeding with the creation of a new, independent Future System Operator founded on the existing roles and capabilities of the National Grid Electricity System Operator (ESO), while assuming strategic gas roles (including longer-term planning, forecasting and market strategy) and new and enhanced industry roles (including providing advice to Ofgem and government, strategic network planning and driving competition) in the future. The new Future System Operator will be established as a public corporation, with operational independence from government.

This role will lead the Project Management Office for the ESO Transformation into the Future System Operator, it will support SMEs from the ESO to develop and deliver the Transformation plan for the FSO and support each Transformation workstream in management of its delivery. The role is part of the FSO programme team, reporting into the FSO programme manager.

This role will require 1 day a week travel to Warwick. We continue to offer hybrid working from office and home as well as being open to full time and part time applicants and flexible working arrangements.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Leadership, setting direction for the PMO
- Build and maintain relationships with FSO programme leadership, ensuring requirements are met
- Work with project team to track Plan
- Take accountability of the cadence of programme and project governance
- Work collaboratively with other FSO PMOs to ensure consistency of working and understanding of current state
- Report status through FSO governance ensuring alignment around issues and resolutions
- Ensure a standard governance process is set across projects and programmes around performance, risk, dependencies and cost
- Drive RAID management across Transformation workstreams
- Work with Finance to ensure the project/ Programme finance reporting is fit for purpose

**About You**:

- Leadership of a project office in either a portfolio or programme capacity
- Knowledge / awareness of the range of roles performed by the PMO
- Strong background in process and performance improvement
- Leadership of multiple teams
- Experience of matrix management of resources
- Experience of working with senior stakeholders to understand their requirements and set clear expectations
- Experience of leading a high performing PMO team using best practice tools and methods

This role offers a competitive salary of between £50,000 - £60,000 per annum.
