Youth Voice Specialist

Birmingham, United Kingdom The UK Committee for UNICEF (UNICEF UK) Full time

Job description

**Part home/Part office based (London or Edinburgh)**

UNICEF ensures more of the world’s children are vaccinated, educated and protected than any other organisation. We have done more to influence laws and policies to help protect children than anyone else. We get things done. And we’re not going to stop until the world is a safe place for all our children.

This is a great opportunity to join the UK Committee for UNICEF (UNICEF UK) as a Youth Voice Specialist.

Children and young people are growing up, adapting to life in an ever-changing world that doesn’t always recognise their rights or listen to their voices. Digital platforms are not only a tool for advocacy, but also serve as a space for gathering, networking, and providing mutual support among young people with common interests and facing similar challenges in the physical world.

In this exciting new role, you will develop a proposition that means wherever they live, whoever they live with, however they identify, children and young people growing up in the UK can develop a relationship with UNICEF UK and see us as an organisation they want to be part of. You will work closely with the Strategic Lead - Youth Engagement to help ensure that UNICEF UK places children and young people's voices at the heart of our work.

You will have in-depth knowledge of rights-based approaches to youth engagement because of your substantial experience working with children and young people. You will be experienced in digital platforms and be an excellent communicator.

If you think you are the right person for this role and have a passion for children's rights and participatory practice, please apply, even if you are not able to demonstrate all the responsibilities as detailed in the job description.

**Closing date: 5pm, Thursday 30 November 2023.**

**Interview dates: Thursday 14, Friday 15 & Monday 18 December 2023 **via video conferencing (MS Teams).

**In return, we offer**:

- excellent pay and benefits (including flexible working, generous annual leave and pension, big brand discounts and wellbeing tools)
- outstanding training and learning opportunities and the support to flourish in your role
- impressive open plan office space and facilities in our London and Edinburgh offices.
- an open culture and workplace with colleagues who share our values, enjoy their work and are motivated to do their utmost for children.
- the opportunity to work in a leading children’s organisation making a difference to children around the world

We are gradually moving back to our offices and we anticipate most colleagues will work one or two days a week in the office and the rest of the time from home. **We will happily discuss other flexible options to suit your circumstances.**

We welcome a conversation about your flexible working requirements, personal growth, and promoting a workplace where you can be yourself and achieve success based only on your merit.
