We are currently seeking an accomplished professional to join this team in the position of Head of Regional Hedging Unit (RHU) - Americas at a leading bank.

In this capacity, you will:

- Oversee all aspects of Hedge Accounting activities, controls, and methodologies within the Americas region. Act as a central point of contact for stakeholders, collaborating with various teams including Front Office, Traded Risk, Operations, IT, and Finance to ensure comprehensive management of accounting hedging practices.
- Collaborate closely with the Global Treasury business to establish an effective risk management framework that employs accounting designations to facilitate advantageous hedging strategies supporting capital, IRRBB, and liquidity objectives.
- Lead a dedicated team, providing specialized expertise across the region. Drive the implementation of consistent global processes, controls, and IT systems related to hedge accounting.
- Contribute to the Global Hedging Unit's efforts in establishing a universally consistent, compliant, and forward-looking hedging framework within the Group.
- Foster seamless support for the Global Businesses, collaborating with other PC teams, while not directly part of the hedging risk management structure.
- Coordinate the execution of hedging models compliant with Internal Modelling requirements for PC hedging activities in the Americas.
- Ensure adherence to Group Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) stipulations for RHU operations in the Americas.
- Oversee the design and implementation of IT Change Projects and Initiatives, aiming for consistent global IT infrastructure within the Americas RHU.
- Manage the Americas RHU team, ensuring adequate resourcing and providing training, mentorship, and career development.
- Champion continuous improvement in all operational aspects, enhancing efficiency and controls through process and systems enhancements.
- Uphold internal control standards, including prompt integration of assurance, internal, and external audit recommendations.
- Communicate risk, control framework, and technical accounting requirements in an accessible manner for non-experts.
- Report into the US in terms of hierarchy.

**Qualifications**:
To excel in this role, you should meet these criteria:

- Professional qualification as an Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent) or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in accounting principles pertinent to Hedge Accounting, fair value designations, and previous involvement in a role related to Hedge Accounting or similar technical function.
- Prior exposure to Product Control across various asset classes, coupled with a robust comprehension of Financial Markets, associated risks, and the evolving regulatory landscape (traded products, inherent risks, life cycle, valuation techniques).
- Experience in team leadership and management, including working collaboratively across geographically dispersed teams.
- Proficiency in advanced tools like MS Excel, Python, or other Data Science tools.
- History of cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders at different organizational levels.
