**So, what does a Support Worker do?**

Our Support Workers work in a variety of settings including community-based services (often supporting people in their own homes) to our Treatment & Recovery Centres.

One thing that is common across all of our services is a focus on personalised support and tailoring our services to the needs and aspirations of the people we support with a diverse range of care needs (including Learning Disabilities, Physical Disabilities, Mental Health Concerns, Complex Care, Substance Misuse issues to name a few).

**About you**

There are a few things that we look for in all of our support workers; we would need you to
- be a good communicator (verbally and in writing)
- be patient, confident and enthusiastic about caring for others
- be able to use your own initiative
- be able to work as part of a team
- have flexibility to work a varied shift pattern to provide 24-hour support
- share our AFG values

We don’t ask for any other relevant training or a previous career in care as full training will be provided - you just need a willingness to learn and develop.

Your pay_ - _between 1st April 2023 and 31st March 2024, our Support Workers will receive a rate equivalent to £11.00 per hour for all worked hours. This will be made up of the National Living Wage rate of £10.42 per hour - plus between 1st April 2023 and 31st March 2024 you will receive an additional top-up in your hourly rate for any worked hours of £0.58 - this will take your total hourly equivalent for all worked hours to £11.00 per hour - Our top-up payments are made in arrears.

- Where is this vacancy based?_
This vacancy is based in Sandbach Cheshire.
- Who do you support?_
We support 3 ladies and 1 gentleman with learning disabilities, and some complex needs and mobility issues. The gentleman can verbally communicate and is mobile in his home, using a transfer table to transfer. He likes to get out and about in the community, pubs, cafes, social clubs and has his own mobility car. One lady is fully mobile and uses taxis to access all her community activities. One lady uses a hoist and sling for all her transfers and she is a wheelchair user. She also has her own mobility car which she uses to get out and about. This consists of shopping, day trips, cafes, pubs. One lady we support is supported mostly in her bed due to her health needs.
- Where do they live?_
The property is a 4 bedroomed spacious bungalow in the village of Elworth. It has a large enclosed garden, and it is positioned down a lane, it is on a bus route and there is a train station nearby.
- What would a typical shift be like? We_ support each person with there routines. Personal care, Bathing, Dressing, Using hoist and slings to transfer the person. We communicate by chatting to the people we support. We support with all there meals breakfast, lunch dinner, supper, activities in the community, at home activities, relaxing evenings ,tv, music
- What activities do the people that we support at this property like to do?_
The people we support like to go the pub, cafes, shopping, day trips. They enjoy socialising in the garden, attending social clubs, going to the seaside. They enjoy listening to music, watching tv and baking at home.
