**Hope Street**is an exciting, brand-new, purpose-built residential community-based service, designed in collaboration with women, for justice-involved women and their children in Hampshire. Trauma-informed by design it will offer a safe andsupportive environment where women and their children can access education, practical and therapeutic support and activities that build confidence, self-esteem and skills and provide the opportunity to build a fulfilling and happy life and play a meaningfulrole within society.

**About the Role**

You will be part of a brand-new team who will all be working closely to bring this new and exciting provision to life. As Children’s Services Manager you will have responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of all children living at the Hub, of which therewill be around eight at any one time, and we anticipate that most of them being primary or pre-school age, and for children living in Hope Street’s supported housing.

You will be responsible for developing and maintaining strong working relationships with key stakeholders, including Social Care teams across the county, local authority commissioners, police, and probation services. You will be a respected local advocatefor children and young people impacted by their mother’s involvement with the justice system and enhance the reputation of Hope Street as a Centre of Excellence across Hampshire.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Ensure that all safeguarding processes for children who are in contact with Hope Street, (children living with their mother at Hope Street or children being cared for elsewhere while their mother lives at Hope Street) are implemented properly.
- Lead and manage a small, dedicated children’s services team to ensure that the care and support provided to children at Hope Street is of the highest quality and meets all regulatory requirements.
- Ensure that the programme provided for children offers a wide range of opportunities for interactive play and learning that will help them develop their social, emotional, and academic skills, and that it is available when children and their mothers needit.
- Liaise with Social Care, health and education teams across the county, where appropriate and relevant, and with Team Around the Child, including fathers, other relatives and other key adults.
- Proactively make and maintain contact with family members caring for other children in their mother’s absence and offer appropriate support and advice to them to ensure the children remain within their family unit.
- Advocate at the highest level for children in care to have family time with their mothers and to be reunited wherever possible.
- Attend multi-agency meetings for children living across the Hope Street network.

**PERSON SPECIFICATION**

**Essential Experience**
- Managing and delivering services for children and families with multiple vulnerabilities,
- Working with child protection processes and implementing child safeguarding procedures.
- Partnership working with statutory services.
- Working with local education services to provide temporary school placements for children.
- Developing and implementing programmes of activities and education.
- Leading, managing and developing teams through supervision, reflective practice, and regular performance reviews to meet objectives and develop professional practice.
- Using Case Management Systems for data and outcome recording.

**Knowledge/Skills**
- Knowledge and understanding of the requirements of the Children Act 2004 and its impact on the delivery of care and support services for children under the age of 18.
- Knowledge of local authority safeguarding processes for children with vulnerabilities.
- Ability to engage families in crisis and support parents with adverse experiences of statutory services.
- Strong crisis management skills and an ability to cope in stressful situations.
- Ability to manage a varied workload and prioritise activities and responses in order of importance.
- Understanding of the impact of childhood trauma and abuse on a child’s development.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Data Protection Act 2018 and the General Data Protection Regulations 2018
