Apprentice/assistant Greenkeeper

Dunstable Downs Golf Course is situated on the top of Dunstable Downs, set in the Chiltern Hills. The James Braid Course was founded in 1906 and has all the attributes of an authentic Downland site. Whilst we are a traditional well-established golf club, we are also a friendly club, focusing on the need to adapt and make changes to keep the club moving forward.

It is important that the condition of the golf course improves in 2024, therefore the club is increasing the size of its greenkeeping team from six to seven. Golf course maintenance covers all things associated with preparing turf for play and improving the facilities on offer to our members and guests. Do you enjoy working outdoors? 5AM alarm call? Physical work (mostly walking)? Summer duties include daily set up - raking bunkers, back pack blowing, mowing, divotting, weeding and pruning. With construction, woodland management and machinery maintenance during the winter months.

Understanding and awareness of health and safety, good time keeping and communication skills are essential. The individual will join a six man team and work 40 hours per week pro rata. Full training will be provided leading to an NVQ qualification. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
