Student Engagement Assistant

To support the North and South Student Engagement Coordinators and Lead Engagement Coordinator to deliver the Home at Halls programme, through providing advice and guidance on student engagement enhancement activities to site based staff.

Implement and manage a centralised feedback tracker at Tier 2, 3 & 4 sites.

General marketing/comms assistance for the team where needed including social media and app management. Specifically engaging students through the app, writing articles relating to the diversity calendar, local recommendations, and newsletters to the specific areas.

Site support
- Guide sites to build, implement, monitor and improve a calendar of activities via the Student Engagement Champions at site
- Support the Student Engagement Lead and Coordinators in developing the Student Experience Champions
- Support the delivery of student experience events and activities alongside the Student Engagement Champions and wider team
- Develop and implement a 'social value' programme across all sites
- Monitor and review the use of budgets provided by the UPP Student Engagement budget
- Share best practice from across UPP and the wider sector in relation to student experience delivery
- Produce student engagement training programmes and materials
- Research the Higher Education market looking for new innovative ideas which could be implemented to enhance the UPP residential experience

Relationship Management
- Facilitate key operational relationships between UPP site staff and the university partners, students’ unions, student committees, university professional services and the local community
- Under the guidance of the Student Engagement lead, create and maintain relationships with key staff at partner institutions
- Maintain internal relationships with key UPP staff in relevant areas to continually improve delivery
- Prepare termly site activity reports and support the Student Engagement Lead and North/ South Coordinators to present these to the business

Communication and Marketing
- Oversee and advise on student facing communication through the Home at Halls app and social media platforms. Specifically engaging students through the app, writing articles relating to the diversity calendar, local recommendations, and newsletters to the specific areas.
- Design and produce physical and digital marketing material for site events and initiatives using various systems (e.g. Photoshop)
- General marketing/ comms assistance for the team where needed
- Instagram management
- work with North and South Coordinators to grow following and create engaging and interactive content for students
- Contribute to the staff newsletter with student engagement updates and other staff updates on Campus

Student Feedback
- Support the Student Engagement team to developing processes to collect, evaluate and act upon student feedback
- Implement and maintain a student feedback tracker
- Support sites to improve Customer Satisfaction Survey completion levels
- Run and support sites to deliver Tell Us events, gathering specific information from students to target/prevent any problems that might be mentioned in the Customer Satisfaction Survey and anecdotally
- Advise sites to create student engagement specific CSS action plans
- Produce feedback reports and present findings and recommendations to site management and the wider business

Other duties
- Support the site management team and University on intake and open days
- This role will include occasional evening and weekend working
- Able to travel across the UK, including nights away from time to time
- Other duties commensurate with the post

Skills, Experience, Education and Personal Qualities - Essential Criteria
- Experience with managing social media channels and/ or content creation or a desire to learn
- Ability to demonstrate a detailed understanding of student life especially living in a halls setting
- Report writing skills
- Analytical skills
- IT skills including design packages Acrobat, Photoshop, Canva
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Educated to good degree standard
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Innovative and forward thinking with a ‘can do’ approach.
- Ability to undertake a varied workload and able to prioritise tasks when necessary
- Ability to work individually and as part of a team
- Able to work to key deadlines
- Able to travel to other UPP locations when required
