Head Gardener

Head Gardener /plantsperson wanted to help restore and maintain new gardens surrounding a renowned and very beautiful 18th century house on the edge of historic Bath.

This is an exciting opportunity for a knowledgeable and energetic gardener to work with the owner and existing Estate Manager to bring on the newly planted garden to its full fruition.

The gardener’s role would be to work with landscape designers Mazzullo+Russell alongside the client to nurture the garden to its full potential. The gardener would have sole charge of all herbaceous borders, greenhouse and small kitchen garden/propagation area leaving the Estate Manager and supporting contractors to run the wider estate.

The garden runs in a series of terraces down a valley to a lake and woodlands beyond. There is a main terrace with long herbaceous borders flanking stone balustrades, formal steps to a Mediterranean style borders, a rose garden and a small swimming pool garden. Whilst there a several garden areas, the borders are not huge and will be designed with maintenance in mind.

A charming 1 bedroom cottage is possibly available for anyone who is seeking accommodation also and there is a comfortable gardener’s building, facilities and working areas.

Salary will be attractive and is commensurate with experience
