BAM FM is recruiting a Senior Janitor to be based in Bromsgrove Schools. Working hours are 37.5 per week. Nominal 10.00 am - 6.00 pm Will require to be flexible for earlier starts or later starts to oversee / cover operative staff that have work patterns between the hours of 7.00 am and 10.00 pm.

**Your mission**

The Facilities Assistant will support the cleaning teams to provide a safe, clean, and hygienic school environment which meets specified standards. You will also be involved with supporting caretaking activities & in other general project management duties relating to the delivery of services within the schools.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

- Lead and supervise directly assigned staff (Part Time Janitor and Cleaning supervisors)
- Cover staff absences (sickness and annual leave) within caretaking teams.
- Oversee specialist and deep cleaning programmes during school holiday closures or other designated periods. Supervision of contractors when required.
- Manage COSHH requirements.
- Ensure adequate stocks of equipment and consumables are ordered and where necessary, ensure requests for replenishments are within an agreed budget
- Emergency reactive cleaning.
- Carry out Regular toolbox talks in line with the company requirements on a monthly basis.
- Support site cleaning supervisors with operational issues, assist organising cleaning routines where required, authorise overtime working in the absence of senior management when necessary.
- Assistance in the training of cleaning staff in the use of approved equipment and methodology following the BICS standards
- Support cleaning supervisors to identify developmental needs for cleaning operatives that under perform.
- Ensure basic daily maintenance of cleaning equipment is being carried out by cleaning operatives (spot checks). Report findings to site supervisors & other cleaning equipment faults to line manager.
- Support line manager in delivery of Waste Management.
- Collation of cleaning staff timesheets and monthly absence reporting
- Liaise daily with line manager & attend meetings as required.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

- Transportation of mobile project equipment and environmental spill kits.
- Assist Deputy FM Manager with delivery of annual life cycle programme.
- Undertake first day inductions for new starters (Cleaning Staff).
- Emergency Reactive Cleaning.

**Who are we looking for?**
- Experience of supervising/managing a cleaning team and service provision in a school environment
- Strong people management skills
- BICS qualification or comparable experience in relevant discipline
- Good numeracy/literacy skills / GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English
- Attention to detail with the ability to work independently and use own initiative
- IT Literate in Microsoft Office packages
- Ability to relate well to customers, work colleagues and children
- Working knowledge of Health, Safety & Welfare Regulations
- Understanding of COSHH Regulations
- Awareness of Manual Handling
- Team-leading skills
- Compulsory flexible Start/Finish times Monday - Friday to suit needs of the business.
- Full driving License required [company van provided]
