Breakthrough in Education has recently been presented with a new opportunity to place a teaching assistant in a specialist school located in the Lowestoft area. This school supports students with diverse needs, providing high-quality support. Working closely with therapeutic partners, such as art therapists and music therapists, your role will include motivating young individuals to actively participate in these enriching activities.

The school is committed to nurturing both the educational and emotional development of its students. The overarching goals involve contributing to each student's understanding of the world and preparing them for adulthood. Recognising the unique needs of each student, staff members are encouraged to adapt their teaching styles to align with individual Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).

The Role:

- Promote independence and foster a love for learning in the daily experiences of the students.
- Understand the additional needs of each young individual and ensure the provision of necessary support.
- Familiarise yourself with the Educational Health Care Plan tailored for each student.
- Uphold and maintain your safeguarding responsibilities.
- Involve students in creative and enjoyable activities complementing their educational journey.
- Assist the classroom staff in managing the day-to-day operations of the school.

- An empathetic and caring individual
- Confident in a classroom environment
- Able to understand complex needs and behaviour and have some understanding of de escalation
- Able to take a creative approach to education and remain supportive towards all students
- Able to build strong relationships with staff, students and parents and really become part of the school community
