**The Opportunity**:

- At Leonardo, we have a fantastic new opportunity for an Aviation Firefighter. You will provide an immediate response to emergencies at the Yeovil site as an integral part of the Fire and Rescue Team and support operations during airfield promulgated hours and on request from the Chief Test Pilot.**What you will do**:

- Deploy equipment at emergencies in accordance with Leonardo Fire and Rescue Service operating procedures and/or national operational guidance.
- Maintain personal discipline, performance, fitness and competence to the highest standard in accordance with Firefighter framework and national operational standards.
- Comply with statutory, legal and regulatory requirements.
- Clean, inspect and test vehicles and equipment. Undertake station duties to maintain operational readiness of equipment.
- Support the development of new employees.
- Support the delivery of internal staff training courses.
- Undertake any other duties necessary to maintain site operations.
- This role may require you to drive away for company business and training courses.

**What we are looking for**:

- Desirable Skills:
- Competent Aviation or Occupational standard Firefighter in accordance with Civil Aviation Authority Cap699 / National Fire Chiefs Council’s National Occupational Standards.
- You must have finished compulsory level education (i.e post college or sixth form education) to be considered.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Personal Qualities and Attributes in accordance with Firefighter national selection criteria.
- Ability to work at height, and in confined space.
- You must pass a pre entry clinical, medical and physical fitness test, which will be undertaken to national fire service standards.
- The physical test or bleep test is a multi-stage fitness test in which you must do 20 metre shuttle runs in time with the bleeps. The test is conducted on a flat surface and is a progressive maximal test, which means it gets progressively harder (Level 8.8 is the required standard).
- Must be willing to work overtime at short notice, including evenings and weekends.
- Must be able to attend residential training courses when required.
- Pass all entry and subsequent assessments.
- Desirable Skills
- LGV Licence
- Rope Rescue Operator.
- Trauma trained, Advanced First Aid at work, IEC, FPOS, FREC3 or similar.
- CAA Firefighter certificate of competence/evidence of competence.
