**Data Scientist** (Contract)**

**Duration: 12 Months (Possibility for extension)**

**Day Rate: £700 - £750**

**Location: Chester/Hybrid**

**Job Summary**

The bank is looking for a motivated quant to join our team supporting Capital Markets business. We are looking for professionals to analyse large amounts of data to find patterns and solutions that will improve our client's capabilities to develop investmentstrategies. He/she will be involved in research, development and implementation of analytical solutions based on statistical models and responsible for designing and optimizing predictive models, approaches and tools using advanced analytical techniques likesupervised and unsupervised machine learning, Natural Language Processing (NLP) and evolving techniques like reinforcement and deep learning.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Design and develop scalable ML/AI solutions to solve diverse business challenges by deriving features from rich data sources, training, evaluating and deploying models to production using cutting edge technologies
- Contribute to the construction of analytical libraries and ecosystems for systematic and automated analysis, reproducible research, business intelligence and reporting.
- Partner with technology and other front office desks to innovate and drive pragmatic solutions for the business.
- Support GCIB business units by assisting in understanding any analysis and interpreting the outputs of such analysis in a meaningful way that directly correlates to business objectives
- Work on projects that involve data gathering and processing

**Skills Required**:

- Extensive experience in a quantitative role, Data Science or other advanced data & predictive analytics role
- A degree in a quantitative area such as mathematics, physics, computer science, applied economics, financial engineering, etc.
- Excellent understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms, such as k-NN, Naive Bayes, SVM, etc. and their real-world advantages/drawbacks
- Experience of working on end-to-end data science pipelines: problem scoping, data gathering, exploratory data analysis, modelling, insights, visualizations, monitoring and maintenance
- Solid knowledge of financial markets, products and instruments with hands-on experience in visualizing market data and performing trend/statistical analysis
- Experience with FactSet and other market data vendors
- Proficient in a programming language such as Python (preferable)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent analytical skills and a fast and self-motivated learner
