**About The Role**:
We have a brand-new opportunity for a Compliance Officer to join our Compliance & DPO team based at our head office in Leominster, Herefordshire. This role will support the Legal Counsel and Data Protection Officer in relation to overseeing compliance at MandM Direct.

The compliance function is responsible for advising on data protection, risk management, policy management and contract management, ensuring that MandM Direct remains compliant with applicable laws and regulations and is able to respond in an effective and timely manner to all relevant mandatory and regulatory requirements.

The role will also ensure that critical dimensions of the compliance function are routinely monitored across the Company, and that departments are identifying and mitigating all corresponding risks.

**Principal Accountabilities**:
**Data Protection**
- Supporting the Data Protection Officer in ensuring that the Company is compliant with relevant regulations.
- Maintaining and continuing to enhance a Privacy By Design culture across MandM Direct, so that data protection continues to be a primary consideration of all system/process developments and enhancements.
- Supporting relevant stakeholders to complete Data Protection Impact Assessments in respect of any significant changes to systems or processes which will affect the processing of employee or customer data.
- Ensuring that Privacy Statements are maintained and updated as necessary.
- Supporting the Data Protection Officer in the development of all necessary documentation, including Legitimate Interests Tests, Record of Processing, Adequacy Statements etc as would be required by the ICO and other European privacy regulators.
- Monitoring the privacy mailbox and deal with all privacy-related issues, with the support of the Data Protection Officer where required and liaising with other team to ensure data protection requests are actioned within a timely manner.
- Providing support and advice to the business on other data protection related matters such as records management and information governance, working with other departments where required.

**Compliance**
- Supporting Legal Counsel on under-taking a review of compliance at MandM including reviewing of applicable policies and procedures and where appropriate assisting with writing new policies and procedures.
- Providing support on compliance-related matters as required from time to time including maintaining and updating MandM documentation such as the Supplier Code of Conduct and the policy register and co-ordinating the PCI assessment.
- Supporting on updating the Company on its requirements regarding compliance and ensuring the Company is kept uptodate on relevant changes to applicable law and regulation, in particular sustainability and ESG.

**Contracts Management**
- Providing support to Legal Counsel on reviewing the existing contract database and setting up a robust system for contract management.
- Ensuring the maintenance of a contracts database in a timely manner, so that the Company is suitably informed about the status of all ongoing provider relationships.

**Risk Management**
- Supporting Legal Counsel in implementing a risk management framework suitable for the Company and to ensure the ongoing monitoring of that framework.
- Where appropriate, providing support and guidance to relevant departments on the management of their risks including the process of escalation where necessary.

**Hours of Work**:General office hours, working 5 days per week (hybrid 2 days per week onsite), between Monday and Friday.

- A working knowledge of applicable data protection legislation is essential
- Experience of working in a compliance or risk management role is desirable
- Proven ability to manage a mixed workload and work to deadlines
- A desire to be challenged and learn new skills
- Well organised
- Strong attention to detail
- Self-driven
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent communicator both written and verbal
- Experience in building strong relationships with teams and stakeholders.
