An exciting opportunity has become available for an aspiring healthcare scientist wishing to train in the speciality of Respiratory Physiology. The post holder will undertake an 18 months training programme as a healthcare scientist level 2 apprentice within the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust. Formal training will be given to develop the skill and knowledge applied to respiratory physiology. Study will take place in partnership with college provider.

This is a full-time post and there is an expectation that the apprentice will need to commit to self-directed study, attend college virtually and in person, and successfully complete the training programme within the contracted period.

As an apprentice all tasks will be under direct supervision until competency through formal assessment is achieved:
Clinic support - Provide diagnostics including Spirometry, Bronchodilator Response, FeNO, Skin Allergy Tests, capillary blood gases, eleogardiograpms, measurement of blood pressure, set up and fit cardiacmonitoring, 24 hours ambulatory ECG monitor and a 24 hour ambulatory blood pressure monior

Support the nebuliser service - Provide a nebuliser service including being a point of contact for the patients, exchange devices, clean and decontaminate compressors prior to sending to Clinical Technology, update inventory database, ensure appropriate equipment and consumable are given to patients, manage appointments through Careflow and provide new issues for ward patients.
