Trafford, United Kingdom Lostock High School Full time

There has never been a better time to join Lostock High School. Our recent ‘Good’ Ofsted rating (September 2021) recognises our determination that Lostock High will continue to develop as a popular school of choice for our community. We pride ourselves on engaging pupils, making learning exciting and rewarding, and on our tenacity. You will join a strong team of individuals who are committed to improving life chances for young people, and who believe in preparing pupils not just for exams, but for life.

We want all of our students to achieve their potential and we make sure that there are no limitations or barriers to reaching the highest possible standards of academic, social and personal development.

We have a hugely talented and committed staff team to make sure that our curriculum, guidance, care and support meets the different needs of every young person, and we pride ourselves on having high expectations. Our students are well organised, supportive of each other and personally ambitious.
- Support the Head of Science to continue to develop an interleaving curriculum in Science, where students deepen their learning and develop schema
- Seek out both internal and external enrichment opportunities to take the students’ learning beyond the classroom
- Link curriculum learning to careers by coordinating encounters with further and higher education as well as embedding ways for our students to learn from labour market information
- Drive forward the quality of teaching and learning in the department, with a focus on cognitive science research
- Work alongside the Head of Science to monitor the overall progress and attainment of students, using data to rationalise necessary interventions
- Lead by example in the department when delivering the syllabus, amending resources, reviewing medium-term plans, following marking policies, carrying out formative and summative assessment and trialling teaching strategies

We will be looking for commitment to improving life chances for young people, as well as commitment to your own professional development. Our school is a lively and exciting place to work. We truly live by our motto of Inspire, Transform, Succeed.

You will be well supported by the Senior Leadership Team who are focused on teaching and learning, and by a comprehensive programme of induction and training to ensure your individual needs are met.

We are totally dedicated to providing the very best opportunities for our students to ensure that we inspire confidence, transform learning and succeed to compete with the best.
