Catholic Mass Music Accompanist

**Overview**:
The purpose of the Catholic Mass Music Accompanist role is to provide skilled piano and/or organ accompaniment for Catholic Mass services, ensuring the musical selections align with the liturgical norms of the Roman Catholic Church. Additionally, the accompanist assists in creating a reverent and uplifting atmosphere through music, supports choir activities, and contributes to the overall spiritual experience of worshippers during Mass and other related services.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Providing skilled piano and/or organ accompaniment for Catholic Mass services and other related events.
- Collaborating with the Music Director to select appropriate music in line with Catholic
- liturgical norms.
- Assisting with choir rehearsals and directing music when needed.
- Playing preludes, interludes, and postludes during Mass to enhance the worship experience.
- Contributing to the development of a music plan for the Liturgical Year.
- Supporting recruitment and auditioning of choir members.
- Maintaining familiarity with Catholic Faith and Liturgical practices.**SKILLS REQUIREMENTS**:

- Proficiency in piano and/or organ playing with at least three years of experience.
- Ability to read and interpret vocal and instrumental scores, including Gregorian Chant and hymns.
- Familiarity with Catholic liturgical norms and practices.
- Capability to act as choir director or cantor when needed.
- Strong sight-reading skills, including Latin pronunciation.
- Effective collaboration with music directors, chaplains, and choir members.
- Clear communication and adaptability to changing schedules and services.
- Support in recruiting and auditioning new choir members.
- Dedication to musical excellence and creating a reverent atmosphere during Mass.**Education and Work Experience**:

- High school diploma or equivalent. Formal training in piano and/or organ playing preferred.
- Minimum three years of piano and/or organ experience, ideally in a church setting. Familiarity with Catholic liturgy and music is beneficial.

Pay: £900.00-£950.00 per month

Expected hours: 15 - 30 per week
