Sawmill Supervisor

A varied and practical role in a busy sawmill and key to our small team. Organising and maintaining order of the yard to achieve efficient and safe production and general operation. Converting trees into structural beams to be turned into oak frame buildings. Managing by products of milling, saw-falling boards, waste and fuelling the bio-mass boiler. Working with saws, machines, hand tools and the broom. This involved and key role would appeal to someone who likes to be outdoors and working with natural sustainable materials, who likes a mental challenge, thinks on their feet, has a can do attiude and wants to learn about oak and the skills to make best use of it. Training will be given in all aspects of the role.

You will need a flexible, willing attitude. A thirst for a challenge and a desire to work to exacting standards and become part of our team.

**Purpose and Scope of the Role**
- To produce or oversee production of correctly graded material for small team of framers on time, working towards customer lead times and quality expectations.
- Responsible for the efficient and accurate milling of oak maximising yield and minimising waste from this raw material.
- Co-ordinating, organising and managing work and output to make best use of time and resources.
- You will be responsible for your own health and safety, safe working practices, maintenance and housekeeping. You will be a responsible productive personable member of the Team working towards the common goals of Timberpride.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Lead sawmill and yard activities to support a small team in the production of Oak framing and Oak products

To read work orders and production schedule to determine type of product to be produced and when.

To work closely with manager and directors.
- Learn to operate bandsaw efficiently and accurately. Receive training in all aspects of this varied role.
- Ensure the processing of milling by-products: Putting boards in stick, chipping waste material for the biomass boiler, cataloguing and managing stock.
- Operate associated equipment of the sawmill.
- Assisting in frame raising on site as and when required.
- To maintain and follow good housekeeping practices throughout the Mill.

To adhere to all company rules and Health & Safety requirements at all times.

**Salary**: From £13.00 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Tetbury GL8 8GX (required)

**Education**:

- GCSE or equivalent (required)
- Maths GCSE 4 or above

**Language**:

- English (required)

Licence/Certification:

- Chainsaw Licence (preferred)
- Telehandler Licence (preferred)
