An exciting opportunity has arisen for the appointment of a Grade E Business Support Officer’s sitting within the Legal and Democratic Services Team.

We require a motivated administrator with excellent communication and customer care skills suitable for dealing with a full range of service users and professionals, both from North Yorkshire County Council and other organisations. The post holder will be trained to support the Business Support Team across the Legal and Democratic Services; in order to provide resilience across the team through the Local Government Restructure.

Encompassing supporting Democratic services in the smooth running of their meetings; from booking meeting rooms, preparing and distributing papers to managing catering. Also supporting the processes that enables the School Admissions Appeals Service to work effectively and meet statutory deadlines and standards. You will work closely with and support the Appeals Clerks (x 3) who are often out of the office, at appeals panel hearings around the county. As well as regularly liaise with the School Admissions Team, schools, Volunteer Panel Members, parents and carers. This role encompasses a range of administration duties including data input, collation of reports and appeals paperwork and administration of panel hearings.

The successful applicant must be able to prioritise a heavy workload therefore good organisational skills, accuracy and attention to detail are important, as well as the ability to work independently and unsupervised. You must respect the need for confidentiality of personal information and have knowledge of Data Protection, Equalities and Health and Safety requirements of working within an office environment.
