Wing Yip is the UKs leading Oriental Food retailer to the trade and public. Based in the refurbished store in Nechells, the company has been trading for over 5 decades.

Wing Yip currently employs around 300 staff across its 4 stores and are currently seeking a dedicated Cleaning Team Leader to join the business. You will be working for Wing Yip at our Birmingham branch.

**About the job**

You will be required to work 5 days out of 7 days, fully flexible on a 30-hour contract.

**Role Overview**:
As our Cleaning Operative Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading a team responsible for cleaning the Birmingham branch whilst working closely with the team including managers to ensure high standards of cleaning are delivered and maintained to meet the business specification. You will also be required to review current working methods and propose new procedures that benefit the business.

This is a vital role in ensuring a clean environment for our customers, which will support and help maintain and improve the levels of customer service throughout the store.

The role will entail a small allocation of cleaning duties and supervisory aspects of the cleaning team, providing cover if and or when required through absence.

**Day-to-day Operations**:

- Perform cleaning tasks within the business whilst supporting and leading the rest of the team.
- Ensure all members of the team are fully trained to perform their role in an efficient and safe manner.
- Supervise daily and periodic work ensuring highest standards are achieved by overseeing staff daily to ensure they are completing tasks in a timely manner and support in situations where required.
- Ensure the team have all the equipment and consumables needed to complete their work by ensuring sufficient cleaning stock is made available for the team and accounted for accordingly.
- Provide cover or assist in cleaning areas to improve standards.
- Monitor daily paperwork to ensure it is being completed correctly.
- Coach and support the team to deliver the required standards and company expectations.
- Liaise with management to discuss standards of cleaning.
- Complete any return-to-work meetings with the team following staff absence.
- Be the first point of call for any performance issues within the team.
- Be responsible for a safe working environment.
- Complete a weekly audit of the teams work to look for areas of improvement.

**Staff Supervision**:

- Supporting recruitment and induction when required.
- Supervise staff time keeping - ensuring staff arrive and leave on time, sign in and out of the building.
- Complete refresher training with cleaning operatives following toolbox talks guidance.
- Ensure all site policy and statements on notice boards are up to date and notify Line Manager of any updates required.

**Skills/Experience/Knowledge Needed**:

- Prior Leadership experience would be advantageous.
- Excellent Time Management skills.
- IT skills
- Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- To lead and motivate the team in accordance with company core values.
- Prior experience in cleaning is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and thoroughness in completing tasks.
- Excellent time management skills to ensure efficient completion of assigned duties.

**You will also be responsible to**:

- Work safely and ensure safety of your team and to abide by all company health and safety guidelines and procedures.
- Ensure efficiency of your team and help other departments as required.
- Carry out reasonable requests as deemed appropriate to your job role and to the benefit of the company.
