The purpose of this role is to provide detailed financial support to City of London’s schools, with the aim of providing a consistent, high-quality service to customers. This role will also provide financial support to capital programmes across City of London’sportfolio of schools as well as providing financial scrutiny of these capital programmes.

Key responsibilities include:

- In consultation with Chamberlain service leads, draw on knowledge of The Corporation’s services to provide systems and procedures that enable effective budgetary control; ensure that variations and emerging financial pressures are drawn to the attentionof budget managers, with options and plans for their resolution
- Advise Chamberlain service leads (and act as their advocate) on funding, financial management and accounting requirements
- Promote a culture which empowers budget holders and supports the delivery of value for money services and knowledge of key cost drivers
- Manage and determine technical treatment of complex accounting rules including determination of capital financing strategy

Suitable applicants must be a CCAB qualified accountant or finalist, preferably CIPFA. Qualified accounting technicians with relevant post-qualification experience may also be considered. Relevant experience managing technical and financial accounting issuesin relation to public sector funding arrangements. Experience providing high quality financial advice and support to projects, including financial modelling, whole life costing, options appraisal, business case preparation, working with internal and externalstakeholders and delivery of complex financial information. Significant financial and management accounting experience in a large complex organisation.
