Our Support Workers work in a variety of settings including community-based services (often supporting people in their own homes) to our Treatment & Recovery Centres.

One thing that is common across all of our services is a focus on personalised support and tailoring our services to the needs and aspirations of the people we support with a diverse range of care needs (including Learning Disabilities, Physical Disabilities, Mental Health Concerns, Complex Care, Substance Misuse issues to name a few).

**About you**

There are a few things that we look for in all of our support workers; we would need you to
- be a good communicator (verbally and in writing)
- be patient, confident and enthusiastic about caring for others
- be able to use your own initiative
- be able to work as part of a team
- have flexibility to work a varied shift pattern to provide 24-hour support
- share our AFG values

We don’t ask for any other relevant training or a previous career in care as full training will be provided - you just need a willingness to learn and develop.

Your pay_ - _our Support Workers receive a rate of £11.00 per hour for all worked hours. Once you are successful for a role with us, full details of your pay will be included in your written offer.

- Where is this vacancy based?_
This vacancy is based in Cleveleys, Lancashire.
- Who do you support?_
We support 2 gentlemen and 3 ladies at this property. Both gentlemen have there own mobility cars as they need support with there mobility, one gentleman has a wheelchair for when he goes out. The ladies and gents are active and very sociable and enjoy going out to lots of different activities.
- Where do they live?_
The property is a 6 bedroom semi detached property in Cleveleys, near to the town centre, shops. The beach is a 10 minutue walk away and good access to public transport.
- What would a typical shift be like?_
The start of a shift would start with a happy greeting and chat then you would support the gents with there personal care, assisting them with washing shaving and dressing. The ladies are quite independent will need support with hair styled. Then you would encourage some of them to make there own breakfast, and for one gent you would have to prepare his breakfast but always give him the choice of what to have. Support everyone with there medication by following the medication support plan. Support everyone with there washing and tidy round.Check out what everyone has got planned for 1-1 activities, check if any shopping is required for the day. Be able to use the IT systems to record daily diaries and 1-1 hours. Support the people with there finances and record any expenditure, complete safety checks. You may have to support to health appointments or activities etc.
- What activities do the people that we support at this property like to do?_
The ladies and gentlemen like a variety of activities shopping, eating out, going to the pub, cinema, musical theatre, coach trips swimming, spa days, crafting, gardening, singing and karaoke. Watching DVD's and films, listening to music, baking and cooking.
