**Ecologist**

**Working Pattern: 37 hrs per week - Monday to Friday**

**Location: West Bridgford, Nottingham**

Do you have a passion for the environment? Are you experienced in ecological assessments? Do you want to work on internal and external projects for both commercial and public sector clients.

**The Job**

We are looking for an Ecologist to join our Environmental Management & Design Team.

Key areas of responsibility will include:
- To undertake ecological assessments, such as surveys and reports to achieve quality, programme and financial targets.
- To contribute to the growth of the ecological service and identify opportunities for development in the market
- To provide expert advice around legislation and delivery of projects.
- To design and deliver ecological mitigation schemes and adhere to legislative and industry best practice.
- To provide specialist ecology support to Nottinghamshire County Council Planning department and other Planning Authorities, including undertaking the role of expert witness at planning/public inquiry.
- To ensure full adherence to health, safety and environmental legislation, policy and best practise.
- To liaise with a wide range of people to facilitate project delivery and maintain Via’s positive company reputation.

**The Person**

Mainly you will be excited to be a part of our environmental projects, but there are just a few other things we’d like from you:
- A relevant degree and be eligible for a full CIEMM membership with experience or knowledge gained through practical experience
- Background in ecological survey methods and assessment techniques, holding a Natural England protected species licence
- Proven experience of working as a ecological clerk of works on construction sites and undertaking preliminary ecological appraisals and producing high quality ecological impact assessments and other technical reports
- Knowledge of health & safety, technical requirements, best practise, planning and other legislation appropriate to ecology role
- Experience of ecological disciplines including financial monitoring, providing information and working with key stakeholders
- A high level of personal drive and commitment to delivery excellent customer care whilst setting examples to peers
