**Overview of the role**

Manufacturing quality balcony systems using up-to-date technology and manufacturing process.

**MAIN PRODUCT**:
Products are manufactured with aluminium profile sections and glass and securely packed ready for delivery to customers throughout the United Kingdom. Aluminium profiles are cut to size with computerised cutting machines according to individual customer requirements, fitted with fixing brackets and supplied with suitable glass to provide a secure and ascetically pleasing product that adds value to the customer’s home.

MAIN TASKS OF THE JOB:
We value the safety and health of all employees, and the first requirement is a clear understanding of all health and safety protocols and proper training in the use of machines and tools are provided to all staff to ensure everybody works safely.

Ensures that all tools or equipment needed for the job are in good working order and ready for use and in time for production.

Manufacturing Production Operatives are trained to perform various tasks within the process to ensure we have well-trained flexible staff.

**Aluminium Profile Cutting**:
Material is issued from stock for each order and cut to size as per order requirement.

Aluminium profiles are all anodised and need to be inspected for blemishes or profile damage before use.

The task requires the ability to understand dimensions and angles as the profiles are joined at several angles to form a complete balcony.

Cutting machines are used to cut profiles to the required dimensions as well as cut angle sections.

**Aluminium Assembly**:
Drill, punch and cut the profile to fit the end caps, fixing brackets and post holders.

**Accessory Picking**:
To ensure the customer has all the components to successfully install the balcony we provide a selection of components based on the site-specific installation requirements.

The glass is securely fitted into the aluminium profiles with rubber gaskets and the correct quantity and lengths need to be provided.

Installations instructions are included in every accessory box to ensure the client has a clear understanding of how to install his new balcony.

**Glass Packing**:
All glass used in the assembly of the balcony is toughened glass for safety but remains fragile and needs to be securely packed on purpose-made glass wooden stillages for secure transport during delivery.

Operators in the Glass Packing and preparation section assemble wooden glass stillages to required sizes and use a variety of hand tools.

Glass is selected from stock and placed on the wooden glass stillages, secured with plastic strapping, and then wrapped to provide additional protection.

Completely packed wood glass stillages then need to be clearly marked with the order number and marked as “FRAGILE”

Delivery labels are then attached to ensure the product is delivered to the right address.

**Aluminium Profile Packing**:
All profiles are packed and secured in cardboard boxes to ensure the product is secure and protected against damage during the delivery process.

Polyurethan packing supports are used to secure the various aluminium parts in the cardboard boxes and this requires an understanding of the variations that exist in our product range.

**Despatch**:
The final part in the product journey through the manufacturing process is despatching the various parts to the client and the despatch section ensures all boxes all labelled.

Despatch group all customer orders together and ensure all boxes, glass stillages and accessories are loaded to ensure the customer receives his balcony.

**Other Functions**:
Other functions within the position include stock control and stock issuing.

Delivery and installation as and when required.

**Qualifications**:

- Evidence of sound level of general education including GCSE English and Maths or equivalent
- Willingness to participate in further training and development opportunities

Forklift licence

Experience
- Previous experience of working in a manufacturing or product assembly environment
- Previous experience of working in a mechanical or technical environment
- Experience of using a range of hand and/or mechanical equipment

Skills/Knowledge
- Good communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to follow manufacturing schedules, measurements and technical drawings
- Good working knowledge of Health & Safety procedures

Outline Terms & Conditions

**Working Pattern**: Monday to Friday

**Hours of Work**: 7.30 to 4.30

**Driving Licence**: Full UK Manual Driving Licence, with no more than 6 penalty points if you are required to drive as part of your role
