My client are a leading provider of enterprise full-service software solutions to a number of vertical markets. As a group they incorporate over 120 software companies worldwide, 55 of those in the UK.

Whilst a part of a larger R&D team, you will be the sole developer working on these company projects so you can expect autonomy, creative input and influence on the future roadmap within this greenfield project.

**POSITION**:
The Software Engineer will be part of the 'Development team within the R&D Department'.

The R&D Department comprises of:

- Development
- Test
- DevOps

**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**-**Full-stack software development in a modern, forward thinking development team using the latest tools, frameworks and development techniques:

- Design and develop new software
- Maintain and enhance existing software
- Analyse software requirements
- Write and perform unit and acceptance testing
- Undertake code reviews
- Identify product impact and possible implementation options
- Hands-on development in an agile environment
- Test and review code for technical accuracy, standards, and functional compliance to the design
- Performance and scalability improvement and refactoring of legacy code
- Work within deadlines in relation to product release timelines, and consistently complete assigned development tasks in required timeframes
- Daily reporting of development activities
- Follow defined software development processes and standards
- Produce/update associated design documentation
- Responsibly follow planned and assigned task lists
- Actively seek to improve skills.

**JOB QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Essential**:

- Knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming
- Knowledge of Full-Stack, modern software development using Visual Studio / VSCode or similar
- Expertise in the following:

- At least three years of practical, commercial experience in PHP
- Laravel framework
- MySQL and SQL based Servers
- JavaScript (including ES6+)
- Git

**Desirable (not essential)**:

- Software engineering or science related degree or equivalent qualification
- Knowledge of SaaS / Cloud infrastructures
- Practical experience in producing technical documentation
- Agile/Scrum development process exposure
- Understanding of modern Single Page Applications, especially vue.js
- A good working knowledge of:

- Unit Test Frameworks and Mocking Frameworks
- Some knowledge of containerisation, especially Docker
- Knowledge of a front-end, reactive framework.
