You will join Algae biotechnology research in our large and diverse academic department of Chemical & Biological Engineering. Your standing and approaches will further strengthen our strong international research profile and our reputation for novel, research-led teaching. You will work in a well-connected team with world-leading reputations in algae biotechnology. You will use your microalgae cultivation and characterisation skills to provide essential support to the algae biotechnology team. As this role requires generation of algal biomass and its characterisation, it provides an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in microbial/biochemical engineering. This role offers you the opportunity to liaise with Industry by playing a key part in delivering biomass specific to requirements for subsequent valorisations. With responsibility for conducting research and communicating with industrial partners, you will add substantial benefit to algae biotechnology research at Sheffield. Educated to PhD level (or a good honours degree with relevant experience), you will have experience of growing different species of microalgae with ability to assess and organise resources, and plan and progress work activities.
As you will be responsible for conducting research and enabling project deliverables to be achieved in a timely manner, experience of adapting your own skills to new circumstances and develop creative approaches to problem solving would be an advantage.
