Date Posted: 22/04/2024ACS International School Cobham required a Healthcare Assistant for our Cobham Campus, to start as soon as possible.

The purposes of this position are to assist the Lead Nurse in the smooth running of the Medical Centre and to complete a range of administrative and first aid tasks. This role involves working to ensure the health, well-being, and safety of all ACS students.

**Knowledge, Skills and Experience**:

- A good understanding and appreciation of school life.
- Experience of working with children. High standards of personal and professional conduct.
- Fluent in English.
- Excellent understanding of Safeguarding.
- Ability to work in a confidential and discreet manner.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to use initiative and think flexibly about possible solutions.
- Ability to work without supervision.
- Current First Aid Certificate.
- Full driving licence.

**Responsibilities**:
Whole School Administration
- Monitoring trip first aid kits after a school visit.
- Bi-annual monitoring of school first aid kits - e.g. stock and expiry date.
- Monthly checks of students’ Asthma and Epi-pen kits.
- Ordering and restocking of the Medical Centre store cupboards as required.
- Set up training equipment for staff training.
- Assisting with the smooth running of vaccination programmes.

Boarding Administration
- Registering boarding pupils with the GP.
- Weekly stock check of boarding medication cupboards.
- To support the wellbeing of boarding pupils that are unwell during the school day if required (e.g. food, water etc).

Transport
- Driving and chaperoning boarding pupils to routine appointment e.g. Opticians, Dentist, GP, Hospital Visits etc.
- Driving and chaperoning boarding pupils to emergency appointments e.g. Accident and Emergency.
- Collection of medication from pharmacy as required.

Other
- Medical laundry as required.
- Changing beds as required.

**Working Hours**: The Health Care Assistant is required to work between the hours of 8.00-18.00 Monday - Friday with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. Days of the week to be agreed with the Lead Nurse. Due to the nature of the work, the Healthcare Assistant will work on a TOIL (time off in lieu) if medical appointments are beyond the contracted hours. A flexible approach is required for this position. Smart dress or Healthcare Assistant Uniform required.
